'17 CA DT/OL Jalen McKenzie

Then go into the office and discuss with the coach. Have no problem with the desire but throwing your school and coaches under the bus on social media is immature at best and really stupid. You do that to your employer and see where that gets you in life. It is not the desire to play with your brother that is the issue. Sorry you can't understand basic concepts.

Calling that tweet "throwing the school and coaches under the bus" is such a stretch

His tweet with his brothers. Read both. He retweeted his brothers. It does throw them under the bus since that is who decides who gets offered.

Wasn't Jones first clas the "legacy" class, or was it his second? Anyways, he made it seem that all legacies would have a chance to be on the Tennessee roster. However, aren't there two or three "legacy" kids in this class without offers? I'll hang up and listen.

Sometimes it's in the best interest of school and player. If they don't see him contributing for whatever reason, then he's here for a year or two, does not see the field, is probably unhappy and could transfer out. The school shouldn't waste a spot nor waste a legacy's eligibility by taking him just because of who he is - let him find his best fit.

Idk if I'm searching for the right one, but looks like Khalil's twitter account is now deleted.... Good if true. Needs to shut his trap and just go out and ball.

Sorry. It's still up. Searched for old account.

Were you in favor of having him keeping his trap shut when he was constantly on Twitter after he committed, trying to get other big names to come here and play with him? I think that Coach Jones can quietly have a few words with him, or possibly Stripling and ask him to tone it down, or at least explain to him what the deal is, but getting him to stop is not the right thing to do, in my opinion. If he becomes disenchanted because his brother is playing somewhere else, then that can be dealt with also.

I'm curious why we never offered Jalen. I understand he supposedly had some knee issues, but when USC is offering him a scholly, and Miami is giving him a look, I have to wonder if the coaches are making a big mistake?

I guarantee the coaching staff has looked at Jalen and I'm sure they just do not feel like giving him a scholarship when this class is so tight and we still have more important positions to fill with a few big names considering us.

My bet is they want his father to pay his way and let him blue shirt with the chance of earning a scholarship. But I'm sure Jalen feels like he deserves a scholarship since schools like USC, Miami, etc are offering. His father makes plenty of money to pay his tuition and if he truly wants to be a Vol he will be. Butch needs to do a better job of handling this situation though.

If we have Willies, CbJ's, and Janek's sons on the team I think Jalen should be there too.

All are walk-ons, not scholarship players. Jalen would certainly be accepted as a walk-on, but he's earned a scholarship offer. If we're not willing to give one, then I can't blame him for choosing a school that will. For some of these young men, it's about feeling wanted. We certainly haven't made him feel wanted.

Not to mention the miss on JJ McClesky who is a baller and skipping over Hayden and now battling WKU for a rb now. Wow

Could it be that USC and Miami are short of OTs and need to take a chance? Sounds like that to me. Tennessee has Smith, Colbert, Locklear(probably a center) Ryan Johnson, Tatum and Neuhaus (sp) all tackle prospects. Not counting Richmond who is just a sophomore next yr. Everyone has to understand every legacy may not fit in. It's a tough decision. That's why coaches get paid and their job is on the line.

Don’t forget, we have Mayes comping in 2018. He will be a tackle.

This is probably the most well written post we've ever seen from you.

You've got the NPA kids proof reading for you, haven't you?

I bet Butch is hoping DADDY will pay his way where we can save a scholly it might work but i would say not if USC or MIAMI offer him one.:)

What would suggest Butch do here Mr. PR Guy? He can't comment on specific recruits. What exactly do you want him to do?

Tee Martin is his primary recruiter. I do believe Butch helps guys out if you know what I mean.

What was the tweet? Haven't seen it quoted or linked.

Unless he's deleted one the only thing I've seen is that he retweed Fort reporting that Jalen got a USC offer and said "and still no offer from the vols."

No tweet at all would've been better, but I think that's a far cry from bashing or anything really negative.

I just checked Jalen McCleskey's stats. As a sophomore at Oklahoma St., he had 69 catches for 762 yards and seven touchdowns. He was a low 3-star recruit, but he's looking better than Preston Williams at this point.
