I just checked Jalen McCleskey's stats. As a sophomore, he had 69 catches for 762 and seven touchdowns. He was a low 3-star recruit, but he's looking better than Preston Williams at this point.

IF he would've come here and IF he would've played at all he would not have had anywhere near that kind of production..

My opinion has NOTHING to do with Jalen's ability. I'll leave it to you guess why..

Because if he were here he would be in the SEC? Because he plays in a conference with crappy pass defense? Because OKSt has a pass happy offense? Because he's not as good as Malone, Byrd and Jennings?

Wasn't Jones first clas the "legacy" class, or was it his second? Anyways, he made it seem that all legacies would have a chance to be on the Tennessee roster. However, aren't there two or three "legacy" kids in this class without offers? I'll hang up and listen.

Several legacy players over the last few seasons haven't been recruited hard or gotten offers....Jalen McCleskey, Alvin Harper's son, Chase Hayden, and now Jalen McKenzie. Not sure if Jones has a legacy policy per se, seems to take case by case.

I'm not saying he talk to us John. Talk to the kids. Let him know the situation and that we want him at Tennessee, but it would help us a lot if he would come as a blue shirt. I don't know what all has been said or how much they have talked. But in my opinion if he's talking to him he wouldn't be lashing out on social media. If he has already explained that to him and he is still acting like that then so be it, there is nothing more Butch can do.

I'm not implying we need to cater to him or worry about every recruit who complains about not getting an offer, I'd just hope they at least discuss things with legacy kids in this situation and not leave them out to dry.

With that said. If you can offer a Longsnapper a schollie, you find a way for a legacy big man to make it on campus. Now, all this does is gives the negative recruiters fodder.

The coaches don't have to say anything to kmac about what their thinking about doing with his brother but that's my opinion and I would think the Jalen would tell his brother what's going on if they're close.

We both may be naïve but this is what I was thinking also.
Considering Reggie was a Vol, Khalil is a Vol there is just no doubt in my mind that Butch hasn't talked to Reggie about Jalen. No way he wants to upset this entire family..

That's a little dramatic. He decommitted from WKU because he received offers from Tennessee, UNC, Purdue, among others. That isn't exactly a "who's who" of premier programs, but they are at least P5 programs. Nothing wrong with competing with UNC for our 3rd RB in this class. I'd be concerned if he were the best option at RB we could land, but that isn't the case.

So we didn't need a longsnapper? We tried the walk on route the year before and that kid ended up getting a scholarship to OU. As troublesome as this may be, some scholarships have to be designated to positions that aren't as glamorous as others.

I guarantee the coaching staff has looked at Jalen and I'm sure they just do not feel like giving him a scholarship when this class is so tight and we still have more important positions to fill with a few big names considering us.

My bet is they want his father to pay his way and let him blue shirt with the chance of earning a scholarship. But I'm sure Jalen feels like he deserves a scholarship since schools like USC, Miami, etc are offering. His father makes plenty of money to pay his tuition and if he truly wants to be a Vol he will be. Butch needs to do a better job of handling this situation though.

It's pretty disrespectful to think his dad would pay the tuition for him. Same thing with the Berry twins in the 2014 class

Preston’s route to Tennessee was not as easy as many recruits. He was the best HS receiver I have seen in a log long time. is senior was cut short with a very serious knee injury which did not heal as expected. He has issues with the NCAA clearance house and could not enroll during either of the Summer sessions as a Freshman. He was out of shape, still nursing a serious knee injury and unable to participate in preseason practice be for being cleared by the clearing house. He insisted on playing before he was ready, telling the coaches he as OK. In the first game he played, he had two nice receptions and appeared to be ready to break out. However,his injury was still hampering him. Point is he did not have the opportunity to perform until tha Fall of 2016. He had some mental mistakes, dropped a couple of passes and did not play very much. He was frustrated and made the decision, to move to another school. I think it ws a bad decision, but he will have the opportunity to improve at another location. I wish him success but I wish wherever he is playing. I still think he is a good kid and will become a good football player.

Just a "if" if they hv JJ and his stats in the slot Wr, Byrd can play CB vs 12 & 13 upgrades on both sides of the ball. I won't even go into the Hayden discussion because that's a conundrum of a dropped ball by the staff.
