'17 CA QB Jack Sears (Duke commit)

Now should I list all the busts? I won't. Its silly though to point to 4 guys who panned out when the list of those who didn't would be MUCH larger.

My comment was simply pointing out that no matter what talent a kid has or what he's ranked he's a star in the eyes of our fan base. Woody Quinn. "He gonna be a star!"

This kind of discussion rarely yields any answers. The only thing that matters is productivity on the field by the team. The one thing that can't be argued is the incredible upgrade in talent at every spot on the field and now even into the depth of all spots. I don't give a d*** about stars our talent has improved enough to compete and win against any team we play. Seems like solid recruiting to me...

Mark Lemke?

No! Mark Braski. Bill's boy. He once got tackled on the five yard line. Everyone thought the game was over until Braski reached out and pulled the endzone to him and they won the big game against Central 28-27.

If you going to recruit with the big boys in the SEC and not be left holding the bag with a weak class then you have to do it the way Butch is. Don't care that LEB would do it different but glad him or someone who thinks like him is not the coach at UT.

I quit paying attention here once USC and UCLA offered. Love the player but being a realist top ranked QBs don't leave West Coast when those schools have you as a top target.

Leb gonna Leb and he still doesnt understand how recruiting works.

Looking around the SEC, I don't see every school doing as you say. Do they have one or two? Probably, but not 1/3 of the class. On average, you will have one to three decommits for an entire class across the board for each school. Most schools don't over recruit more than that.

This all day. We all know how Butch recruits by now. The people who are still complaining just want to complain about something. The man can recruit, and he has to in an ultra competitive sport.

And when we prove it on the field, we may have the luxury of recruiting that way too. Until then, it's probably gonna remain somewhat scrappier than most of us would prefer. Hopefully this is the last class like that.

Makes me wonder if Butch was trying to take the high road this year, but between the law suit and last years' record not being as convincing as some hoped, it simply wasn't happening.

Who panned out? those 4 players were all experimental recruits, not recruits that were counted on to be stars from the day they signed their LOI.

the list of guys who didn't pan out? well considering Butch was at CM and UC at the time of those 4 recruits i listed, not many highly rated recruits, so how could you label them as, "not panning out?" when they were never expected to be stars?

now for your last paragraph, completely absurd. nobody thought woody was going to contribute, so you're reaching quite a bit. he was a volleyball player brought in as an extra body. and we have many on here who are complaining about all the 3 stars that are committing so idk what you're referring to.

since Butch has been at UT i can only think of a few major busts: some of which still have a chance to prove themselves; D. Bates, D. Blair, and that's all i can think of atm. :clapping:

The 2013 class hardly counts anyway since so much of it was assembled in ~2 months.
