Bottom line is this: on the current trajectory, this class is destined to finish around 15th, meaning around 8th in the SEC. There's really no spinning it otherwise.
Or, everyone around here better get warm to the idea of cutting commits, as Butch pulls in bigger fish late and tosses a few back. Embrace the filthiness of the game, these are your two outcomes.
Um...no. Not really. mostly 4's and 5's. very few 3's.
Ummm? Go down the roster...you might be surprised.
LG Robertson
C Thomas
RG Wiesman
RT Hall
QB Dobbs
WR Smith
TE Wolf
DE Vereen
LB Maybin
CB Sutton
S Gaulden
All consensus 3 stars or lower. This is most likely to confirmed starters and pending positional battles that could add more. And I didn't add the two kicking positions...but that's :victory: more. 11 out of 22 > "a few". :hi:

lol. I really don't see how Animal House is considered a classic. They really must have been in need of good movies back in your day.
I watched your ill-advised movie. You should watch one I recommend now. Maybe a musical or something good. I'll be nice though - Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog. Seen it?
This is spot on. Sure you can argue this both ways, but since butch has been in town it has worked in our favor. He and his team can evaluate talent. We are getting serious production out of some 3 stars, sutton being the superstar example.
We need top tier recruits too, but butch has consistently improved each year, and our roster is heading in the right direction just like our win column. Let's have faith , it's June.
The funniest part is he was actually being serious.

I have to agree that Gray is the only recruit I am impressed with so far. This was a great year in-state and right now we are coming up short. Today set us up for a mediocre class, even if we land some bigger names down the road. I look at the offer lists of some of the guys we are getting and it just makes me shake my head. I love Butch but it seems like he is really reaching on some of these guys.

JRM was a 4 star. Gaulden was on Rivals. Otherwise, the rest were 3. You can survive if a third to half your class is made up of 3s.
Remembered wrongly about JRM...COMPOSITE 4 star. Argued with some on here about North and Carr being the only 4 stars in that class. Gaulden was composite 3 star in the next class. Our proponents of loading up the roster almost exclusively with 4's + 5's need to reconcile themselves that along with the realistic drawbacks, Butch builds his teams along chemistry and cohesion guidelines. Fulmer's teams started slipping when he took the stargazing fan preseason guide pick and choose method and slapped a roster together with expectations of gelling. Alabama's Saban teams are stacked with top prospects, but they don't win that championship with 4 star Bateman...they did it with 3 star Coker. Saban develops players better than any and he can't obliterate roadblocks by throwing a 5 star at them. More to this jazz than that. Butch is going to identify, scout,RECRUIT and then develop his types of players for this team. About the extent of the science of it. I'm sure we'll continue to have guys on a message board throwing out doomsday scenarios about said approach...you've been here every year, and we got more talented in spite of it.
Edit: by "you"...speaking generally, not directed at YOU Chavis. :hi:

Dobbs was a 4 star on 247 and ESPN. He was a 3 star on rivals.
I believe JRM and Gaulden were also rated as 4 stars by one or two services.
So you're wrong about all those guys being consensus 3 stars. Most were. But not Dobbs, JRM, or Gaulden.
I laugh when I see you post this stuff. If 1 service says a Vols commit is a 4*, well he's obviously a 4*. Don't matter if it's Billy Bob's Bucksnort Recruiting Blog. He's a 4* dang it.
Now if other schools recruits are rated a 4* by 1 service, well those bums are obviously a 3*, if that.
Keep it up man. You do you, so I can keep laughing. Good times.
