I think there is some validity to the concern, I know 4* and 5* like to wait to commit, but we are giving away slots to obliviously good athletes, but when you look who has brought UT to the top again, the 4* and 5* players have the advantage. If CBJ and company are saying these are developmental players....I can see it. However, elite athletes build elite programs.........just saying.

This is the same way Butch has recruited the last 3 years. He isn't "giving away slots." It just amazes me when people are critical of the same exact process that has overhauled our roster and has us in discussions about winning an SEC title. People just like to complain, and they now have the avenue to do it.

Im so pissed at this class right now and the piss poor job that Butch is doing. I don't know how to word it. Michigan just went into Georgia and grabbed two 4 stars while we are taking poverty 3 *s with offers from the likes of Southern miss, UCF, VAndy, Mississippi state. This was supposed to be the "best class ever" I'm tired of all the coping by people on here arguing that Sutton was a 3* and that Butch will "coach them up" we need ELITE players not projects! So Frustrating when you pour everything you have into this and these are the results we get.

Dobbs was a 4 star on 247 and ESPN. He was a 3 star on rivals.

I believe JRM and Gaulden were also rated as 4 stars by one or two services.

So you're wrong about all those guys being consensus 3 stars. Most were. But not Dobbs, JRM, or Gaulden.

So for all the Negavols; if CBJ wins the NC this year with all the 3*'s on team 120, is he the best in game coach in college football AND best college football talent assessor AND the best college recruiter AND best college football teacher/coach? Oh yeah AND he signs a recruiting class between 6-15 for 2017? Just wanna know where you success meter is?

I laugh when I see you post this stuff. If 1 service says a Vols commit is a 4*, well he's obviously a 4*. Don't matter if it's Billy Bob's Bucksnort Recruiting Blog. He's a 4* dang it.

Now if other schools recruits are rated a 4* by 1 service, well those bums are obviously a 3*, if that.

Pretty sure Dobbs and JRM were composite 4 stars.

And anyways I was responding to a guy saying they were CONSENSUS 3 stars.

If one service says a guy is a 4 star then he's obviously not a CONSENSUS 3 star.

I will confess I was surprised about the sheer volume of three star guys we got yesterday at first but after reading 247's take on them I'm pretty content. I think there will be some bumps and it seems many of these guys have some elite uncoachable attribute (eg size, speed, etc), which seems like what you want if you are taking a chance on a lower rated guy. I have no reason not to trust Butch's evaluations. Dooley's four stars were mostly flops while Butch's three stars are gearing up to lead us to an SEC championship game.

I realize at this point, you just can't keep that big yapper shut but do the rest of us a favor. If you insist on calling UT payers "poverty" do it on other teams sites.

Let me guess, 247? And a lot of those are interest not offers and they are still 3 *s regardless. Two or three of these guys were not just 3*s but 5.5s.
