The first thing Lewis did on Sunday morning after announcing his commitment: Drive a couple hours to workout with some other Northeast quarterbacks.
I have a drive that many dont have, he said. Im going to work my ass off to be the greatest I can be.
Patience rewarded: Vols QB commit CJ Lewis drives unique path to Tennessee
I thought I was going to commit to a couple other schools and be stress free and focused on the season. But I knew what I wanted and that was to be coached at the highest level and have no regrets.
I didnt want to have any What ifs I went there? or What if I did this? So I waited.
Lewis called Tennessee the best place for him, adding that despite months of adversity he wanted to go somewhere where I feel uncomfortable, actually.
Not sure what folks want in arm strength. The first pass in his huddle highlight video appeared to travel 50-60 yards with PERFECT placement.

And you still have reservations about his commitment?
I haven't shared an opinion about him one way or the other, but I am mildly concerned about the level of competition Lewis faces; it's pretty bad overall.
His stats last year were pretty decent, and I do like him as a prospect and am very impressed with his comportment. I think Cole Copeland was a significantly better player than Lewis was last year, but I know that doesn't always translate from HS to the SEC and I haven't seen either player in person like our staff has.
I fully expect Lewis' numbers to improved markedly this fall.
Ha you act like they have even bothered to watch him. They pull up the recruit profile and see 3 stars immediately call suicide hotline then post here in hopes of being comforted. They ain't got time for film

The more I read about this kid the more I like him. He has that inner drive combined with elite athletic ability. Good combo.
Like so often it happens with Butch commits I'm guessing that CJ has a really good senior season, picks up some big offers and gets bumped to a 4 star. And the same posters complaining now will be whining this winter about possibly losing him.

Actually, I did watch his film..at least one compilation. I saw plenty of talent and potential from him as a QB. And chill out, it's not like I was saying he's not SEC QB material...merely throwing a hypothetical out there. He is, imo, the perfect QB for this recruiting class as he'll have time to develop, and has the legs needed to run this offense (and yes, Dormady has some wheels to all the "well dormady is a pocket passer" bs starts).Common sense ain't common bere. He's a QB with speed. Have you seen his film? Nice touch also. He has tools you can't coach, plus great upside. If he wasn't gonna be in the QB role, I doubt he would have committed so eary.
