'17 FL CB C.J. Cotman (UT commit 7/20/16)

It's starting. He won't be the last. This is why Butch will be gone after next year. Couldn't win w/ superior talent. Won't do it with inferior talent.

Precisely. If I am a highly rated recruit, no way I am going to Tennessee.

1. Wont get coached up. Or..
2. Wont know who my HC is once CBJ gets axed.

Not a good environment to recruit to.

He apparently also retweeted a tweet that was telling Butch Jones to get out. Someone will have to check that though.

That's why you cut bait now imo. Of course that won't happen but it potentially saves the recruiting class

"Basically, they want experienced players instead of starting over with freshmen," Cotman told Scout when asked about his de-commitment from Butch Jones' program. "I'm good. I just know there's something better out there for me."

Confusing tbh. What other good players are left??

I mean, if there are Juco guys who are good enough then I can't disagree. We need CB help in a bad way, and we don't need to wait 2+ years for it to develop.

They did offer a Juco CB today. Maybe CJ asked why and didn't like the answer. Maybe he was a gitshirt. Either way I think it's a mistake. Kid can ball.

"On the decommitments, from what I gather, the CJ Cotman deal was about fit. Apparently after Tennessee took him this summer, they landed two other cornerback commitments and still have Corker and Speed on the board. I'm not sure if the offensive coaches felt comfortable with him and I think that shows with both Azzanni and Gillespie out recruiting for their respective positions. "

But hey let all the negative and uninformed people panic...It's amazing some of these people can find the door to their moms basement

Wow. Tell me this isn't true, that it isn't the reason Colman is no longer committed. Tell me this isn't true. This staff generally sucks at bringing in JUCO players and having them do anything to contribute. Von Pearson was ok but nothing to write home about. Even the one legit success, Alvin Kamara, has been completely misused and underutilized for two years here.

Riyadh Jones, Woody Quinn, Chris Weatherd, Jonathan Johnson, Dontavus Blair, Justin Martin, DJ Henderson, Jonathan Kongbo (the freaking #1 JUCO in the country) and Jeff George.

Did we really just cut loose one of our highest rated recruits, a kid who looks like a dynamic playmaker, in favor of a potential JUCO who's gonna likely do nothing but mark time for two years and produce next to nothing here?

You forgot Kenny O'Neal JUCO as well. He was a #1 JUCO too. I agree with you on this. Cotman is a 4* recruit. Of the three we lost yesterday he's the one that hurts me the most. He really had potential to be a solid player for us I truly believe.

I don't agree taking the JUCO route instead over him. I'm with you buddy. I think stuff like this will bite CBJ & his staff in the butt. Thanls!

yeah you are right Tony why would a coching staff getting paid millions make a move you disagree with! You should really call them and tell them hopefully its not too late! Thanks!

Well if you've going back to the Fulmer era let's go on how about Dale Carter and Chris Mims from the Majors era.
