I bet Eli gets a scholarship. He's pretty good, just needed to add the size. Curious to see what Pope becomes, supposedly he has great hands. Definitely need that after all the drops we've had

Yeah. Our receiving corps seemed to get a couple cases of the drops this year. We might have blown UF out of the water in the first half if our receivers and TEs had caught the dang ball. I hope we use the two TE sets more next year and tear up the middle of the field with the TE seam routes.

If Austin Pope is on scholarship his butt better be able to catch the football. Tennessee is notorious for signing players that practically disappear once they are signed. At some point, these guys have to produce.

Why should his butt be able to catch the ball?

Pope looked like a WR in a TE's body to me. He can catch well.

We will need Scott's done te sets and more scheme to.cover the odd fronts if we want compete at high level next year we need tightends that can come in and keep us going. Beside qb just believe will be biggest position we need to excel in next year need a big leap in production

This kid seems to have the size and speed to be a good TE for us.

Just gotta see how he takes to the blocking aspect.

I can not find anything about Brown's official visit but someone posted a tweet in the recruit tweet thread in which he said that he couldn't wait until his official visit.

Fingers doesn't have him listed as any of the players visiting from this weekend through 1-27-17. Does anybody know because even VIP access doesn't show his visit to Knoxville? Thanks & it would be greatly appreciated. :good!:

I can assure you that you will see some good things from Austin this year... He got red shirted but he will be fine... Friend that's on the team... Dude can ball... Just give him time. He has the ability to be very productive.

James Brown can rattle off names of a few different schools that have come after him late in the recruiting process.

There’s Florida, Oregon, South Florida and Florida Atlantic, among others. But the three-star tight end from Orlando, Fla., committed to Tennessee since October, pays the late flurry of interest little mind.

“I see it as fake,” Brown said on Sunday, exiting his official visit with Tennessee. “They came so late. They could have offered me a while ago.

“Tennessee trusted me and they saw my ability, said they could use me in a different way. So I just trusted them and they trusted me, now I’m home.”

"I’m 100 percent to Tennessee right now," Brown said.

As he explained the situation on Sunday, he’s currently undecided about taking an official visit to Florida next weekend.

“I was (going to take the visit), but I don’t think I really need to,” Brown said. “I’m committed. I can say I want to enjoy the process and all that, but I enjoyed my time with it. I’m pretty much done vacationing, trying to get ready for college.”

“I never know,” he added later, circling back to the thought of the Florida visit. “I really just thought about it and I don’t really need to take a visit, I could just be having fun. But I’ll talk with my parents and see how I’m going to deal with that.”

Brown measured in at 6-foot-3, 221 pounds.

“I came in at quarterback at 205, then I started bulking up and now I’m like 221,” Brown said. “I’ll keep on gaining. I’ll adapt to the system.

“Tim Jordan, we’re trying to get him up here,” Brown said. “He’s undecided right now. He went to North Carolina last week, Tennessee this week and next week Indiana. So we’ll see what happens.

“Honestly, there’s a pretty good chance (Barrett) might flip,” Brown added with a laugh. “That’s what we’ve been picking on him about.”
