This is very debatable. A lot of the early kids we picked up will have been/will be factors moving forward.
You only thought otherwise because you couldn't keep half of them straight in the first place.
Each class has had a "big" vocal instate early commit with the exception of last year and last year was our worst in state year
Jones was the guy in 2015
Vic in 2014
We need one very soon for 2017
- We can't guarantee immediate playing time
- TN has a lot more top 100 guys than usual. Those types of guys usually want to have their moment and commit later on in the process
- Recruits will largely be sold on what they see Tennessee put on the field because the staff will finally have an experienced roster full of great talent and has no excuses not to perform well.
Good point
When the list is that long it does cause some challenges keeping up with them all
Biggest thing for me is The only one I know that has really done anything after we send him packing is the kid at OU
Once TN gets to a conference championship, then it will matter less. As of now, TN hasn't shown that they're on the same level as those elite programs. So that's a moot point.100% agree with the playing time narrative but that doesn't stop the elite programs
I don't agree with the next point.
This program won enough last year and is getting plenty enough pub for next year for kids to not to need to wait and see the product. Not buying that at all
There's a few but not many. Most of our 3star "good gets" were taken much later in the process

8 games is "enough"? Kids like Gibbs, Stevens, Trey Smith, Tee Higgins could play at any school in the country. Top 100 talent almost always goes to a school that gives them a chance to win championships or will put them in the NFL. Tennessee hasn't shown that they can do either of those things recently.
Buy it or not, that's the truth. If Tennessee had played in Atlanta and put more than 1-2 guys into the NFL in the past 3-4 years, our recruiting prospects would be very different. Our recruiting success in this class will have a direct correlation to the on field success we see and/or the NFL talent we produce.
But by all means, stick to your freakouts and conspiracy theories.
Don't care how bad the competition is in his film. He's a baller. He'll be a highly ranked 4 star with many more bigtime offers to come.
False
Most of these kinds of kids in the last end up being cut loose for better kids later.

Tape is good, but what's the rush on taking this commitment? His offer list is nothing special, just like the first two. We don't have to worry about beating those schools out. Players with these type of offer lists are the ones we end up telling to look elsewhere.
You do understand that the coaches have met with and fully evaluated this kid, right? They didn't offer based on Hudl video. It amazes me that people who have never seen the kid, let alone watched him go through workouts and drills think they can evaluate better on an internet video than the Bobs and Butches can with all the knowledge and resources they have.
Fwiw that was my response when we took the first 2 of these "under the radar" kids.
I am changing gears Bigtime now and I am really worried that this is a sign we really do need to take these kinds of kids. We have lost our luster in the state for some reason and there is zero momentum. I have to think the negative PR is apart of this.
Seems like to me we are now in a place we might need to go down this road when I had really hoped and really believed we were past it
So no this has nothing to do with my feeling about cutting kids loose. I think this a sign of very bad vibes
