Serious question to all you guys that evaluate players' film-- do you trust your film evaluation more or do you trust the coaches' evaluation more? Not being a jerk here-- just interested in others' views.
Jaquan Henderson cant stop smiling.
Tennessees 3-star commit from Covington, Ga., joined the 2017 class during the Volunteers epic Orange Carpet Weekend last month, and the linebacker has had a grin on his face ever since.
You know when you get that feeling about something? When I first stepped on campus (at Tennessee) for the very first, first, first time it just put a smile on my face, Henderson explained. I know I smile a lot, but this smile (was one) that everybody noticed. It was one of a kind. The way that the people treat you at the University of Tennessee, its hands down the best in the nation and thats why I chose Tennessee.

Henderson and Blakely. 3 stars that get to develop as redshirts but already have 5 star VFL attitudes. Eagerly awaiting first Negavol MEH.![]()
Attitude in one of he most important trait to look for in a recruit. We have seen what can happen with 5
8 players who's attitude can divide a team and what it can do for a recruit who has the attitude of a Cam Sutton. Look back at who Kiffin recruited and the attitudes of many of his higher rated recruits. I take CBJ's recruits over Kiffin's every day.
There's a fine line between recruiting average athletes and recruiting talented core athletes. The star gazers are correct that we need to land difference makers but as we saw with some of Coach Fulmer's later classes and Kiffin's lone example, grabbing a bunch of high rated high schoolers and slapping em on the field does not a team make. Alabama picks and chooses every year, but Saban's best teams had a better mix IMO. There's a reason he did a Hail Mary and sent Gaulden a LOI on NSD...he was a composite 3 star but he had something.
Fulmer had some highly rated busts in his 2007 class, but two of his last 3 recruiting classes (06 and 08) were absolutely terrible. Both I believe finished ranked somewhere in the 20's nationally.
My point wasn't necessarily about overall ranking of the classes...more to the lacking chemistry of all of the later ones. I believe he went all in for the top prospects, and when that fell through last minute, the backup plans were pretty lacking.
