'17 IL WR Jeff Thomas

Kid says he is looking for "the love" and early playing time. This might be one of those recruits where an "annoying" Volnation might be a benefit.

Although the 5-foot-10, 167-pound Thomas did not say Louisville and Oregon were also in his top three, it certainly appears they are making the biggest runs at Thomas. He was offered by new Ducks coach Willie Taggart recently, and Louisville moved up on his list after its strong season.
"The No. 1 thing I am looking for is the love," Thomas told Bender. "Then, the playing time, and how well they do in graduating players."

Defense wins 'ships. Lock down potential. Only concern is we may have wasted a year of development.

You mean you're glad he didn't get a years worth of development under Martinez so you'll have less to fix when the new DB coach arrives. We have players at DB I just don't know what the hell is going on with the coaching.

Woody W. just tweeted that TN will get an official!

https://twitter.com/rivalswoody/status/815684267166535680

On Tennessee: “I talked to the wide receivers coach yesterday and he let me know that I have a scholarship and he’s been wanting to offer me but he hasn’t had my contact information. I don’t know much about them yet. They think they can give me the ball in space.”

I think Byrd needs to go to CB regardless

Agree 100%...Byrd and Martin at corner with Kelly and Warrior at safety...Gaulden at nickel...all with proper coaching from our new DB coach...that looks like a pretty formidable secondary

I also liked the looks kelly had a linebacker in the bowl game. A few times he came downhill like a missile. Just one big hit he didn't wrap up on that would have been on the highlight reel.

In His Words: “Illinois is still my leader. I’ve talked with Lovie Smith a lot during the process but it’s kind of slowing down because of the dead period. I’m hopefully going to take an official there later this month so we’ll see what happens.”

On Oregon: “Oregon is a fast-paced offense and something I really like. I just want to take the official visit and see how that goes.”

On Tennessee: “I talked to the wide receivers coach yesterday and he let me know that I have a scholarship and he’s been wanting to offer me but he hasn’t had my contact information. I don’t know much about them yet. They think they can give me the ball in space.”

On Miami: “Miami, that’s a good school. They have the other freshman, Ahmon Richards, he’s a good dude. Hopefully I can be on the other side of the ball from him. We’ll see how the visit goes.”

Is there enough time for 4 officials? Looks like Louisville is out.

He could do a midweek one one day official to Illinois. Or may just skip them as he's probably been a lot.

The fact we just offered and we're already on of his top schools is a good sign, just needs to get comfortable with that staff and need to get him on campus asap.

from Callahan:

He didn't indicate that today. When I spoke with him after the game, he said he "hopefully" will visit Tennessee, but he doesn't have a date set for that right now. Still in the preliminary stages of finding out more about the Vols' program. He said Illinois still is his leader, and he's planning to visit a few other schools in January as of right now. He hasn't taken any officials so far, so it sounds like it's even possible he could try to squeeze in more than three visits in January. It will be interesting to see whether he follows through on visiting Tennessee, but he at least has some interest

This kid reminds me of Desean Jackson. Similar build and explosiveness.

If we somehow land him, our class goes from okay to AMAZING.

He's the type of game breaker on offense we desperately need.

#Rivals100 WR Jeff Thomas just broke the Under Armour record for receiving yards in a game with 123, still 8:30 left to add to it.
