'17 IN QB Hunter Johnson (Former UT Commit 8/23/15) (Clemson commit)

Dobbs inaccuracies are more than made up by his running ability, improv/creativity, and elusiveness. We finished 3rd in the SEC in rushing. Dobbs is also the main reason sack numbers are down. If QD was starter, it would hinder Hurd and Kamara in a bad way. QD is zero threat to run. Dobbs isn't an accurate QB, but he is the reason the offense is so successful. Jones does have the right option at QB and it isn't even close.

I'd say QD is a split between Dobbs and Manning. Just enough of a threat.

I think after Dobbs' last year, the OL will be far enough along development wise to allow a QB like Dormady to play his game and not hurt the run one bit. He will have time enough to sit in the pocket and tear apart a secondary.

The only reason Dobbs isn't starting next year is injury. There is no QB controversy. Dobbs is the best running QB in CFB hands down. If he can just become even marginally better at downfield throws, the offense will be dang near unstoppable.

Couldn't disagree with you more. Dormady is plenty agile enough to scramble if need be. The qb is supposed to be able to throw the ball, that's why he's the qb. This is not Nebraska from the 90's and don't want it to be. A strong thrower first with running as a 2nd option, not the other way around.

QD is not a runner and hasn't proven anything other than he has a decently strong arm. That's it. Dobbs not only will be the best QB in the SEC next year to start the season, he is also the leader. Everyone here knows he isn't an accurate QB, but he still takes over games. Isn't that the point of being a QB? Starting a QB battle with the most proven QB in the SEC (who has been your starter for 3 years and gives us our best shot to win) is BEYOND asinine.

Huh, and all this time I thought he was supposed to win football games. Weird.

That's so funny. The last time I heard it I laughed so hard I fell off my dinosaur.

Well look who just sassed their way off of the Christmas card list. I guess you won't see how my cats have grown this year.

I'm as big of a QD fan as there is... I was one of the first ones making a case to take him that year, but there is no QB battle next year.

No there's not. Posters defending Dobbs need to content themselves with that.

Dobbs runs for speed and power while Ward is just speed.

Fair point if we are going to qualify "best running QB" as having to have speed and power. On that note though, Marquise Williams is in a more similar mold to Dobbs, and to a slightly lesser extent, Deshaun Watson.

Calling Dobbs the "best running QB, hands down" isn't all that clear-cut. There are comparable talents with better numbers, who also happen to be better passers.

You'll defend Dobbs to the death, so we'll just agree to disagree if you see things differently.

Maybe "best hands down" was hyperbole..but Dobbsy has some of the most silky smooth, crazy highlight film runs I have ever seen. He doesn't just look like a running back, running out of the wildcat. If he was just better in the passing game, he could be an all time legend.

Dobbs does have a strange gate. It's like his upper body doesn't move. He's a glider.

He also just wills his way into the end zone when he's close to the goal line.

Every position should always be open. That said, it would be hard to bench a senior leader with multiple years of starting experience. We don't get to see much of the backups, which leads us to be unrealistically optimistic sometimes, but QD sure looks good every time he throws the ball. His running isn't as bad as some here make it out to be.
