'17 IN QB Hunter Johnson (Former UT Commit 8/23/15) (Clemson commit)

2017 is still a long way off. Do you really think this team can carry the top pro style QB prospect (Hunter Johnson) and the top dual threat prospect (Jarrett Guarantano)? I can't see both of these guys on the same roster and having it work out. First of all, the system needs to be developed that fits one or the other. Secondly, one of these guys is going to be ticked to be sitting. A lot of things can happen between now and signing Day 2017. If JG comes in healthy next yr, I seriously doubt that HJ will commit in Jan 2017.

The system can be tweaked to fit either or.

The system works for both. Dobbs is an elite runner but not as accurate, so we predominantly run. QD is predominantly a pocket passer and we really pushed for him. The offense is set up to where it can adjust to the pieces we have. Now, one may transfer due to playing time, but it can easily work for either QB.

The problem I see on here are posters thinking they know what BUTCH'S system is. He recruits these types because they fit his system.

So you're taking a pass on Trevor Lawrence too? :)

If Dobbs goes the distance next year then the QB situation will be a big mystery going into spring 17. Tell all QBs it's open competition.

Johnson will have the luxury of seeing how this plays out before he has to sign on the dotted line in 2017. He may very well opt for a place like Notre Dame if the competition is less. We'll see. Butch is going to need to use his sales skills in order to keep everyone on board

Common denominator of top programs? Loaded rosters. Check out Bama's QBs...5 stars and 4 stars waiting their turn. Hell, Cornwell had to win a camp competition to get an offer. Notre Dame signs a top QB (or two) in every class. If HJ flips to them, it won't be to duck competition.

Hell, by then Peyton will be their position coach and it's over. Hell, we will have to hold a 5* only try out once a year to determine our signee each year. "Can I come wait my turn please" Bryce Ramsey will probably transfer here and back up the punter.

Peyton will come in as a graduate assistant because he doesn't need the money. Will let us keep the staff intact.

Just because he's listed as a "pro style" QB doesn't mean he's not mobile.

So was Josh Dobbs a dual threat or pro style QB in hs?

I have been watching film of an opponent this week for our sectional finals Friday night. One of the games we have is our opponent vs Brownsburg (Hunter's team). I did not realize he could run like he does. When he first committed I didn't think it was a good fit, but now I see why.

Yup. It's almost like the coaches know what they are doing.

I can't imagine he'd have been a pro style as inaccurately as he throws the ball. To me he screams dual threat from the time I saw him put on Orange

Rivals and 247 both listed him as a pro style QB. He threw for 3100 yds and 29 TDs as a SR. Only rushed for 200 yds and 2 TDs.
