'17 IN QB Hunter Johnson (Former UT Commit 8/23/15) (Clemson commit)

Our passing numbers would look a lot better if Dobbs wasn't so erratic. I think the offense can be tailored for the strengths of the QB.

DCG was offered by his in state school which loses virtually no one from their state they want.

Kongbo visited a school 140 miles for where his family lives. Knoxville is 3,000 miles away and he still hasn't decommited.

Martinez isn't gone and even if he goes VQ said Osborne may look around a little, but he personally talks to Butch Jones even week. Guy has stuck after visiting Ohio St. He is an EE, he isn't going anywhere and there hasn't been any Osborne news.

Wow you changed my mind. So happy for this 21st ranked recruiting class! I know we were all getting tired of top 5 finishes.

You keep repeating this like anyone in here actually wants a 20+ ranked finish. You haven't proven anything nor have you presented a good argument.

McKenzie was asked to seek out Kirkland. Hoke losing his job helped. Harbaugh wanted Kirkland bad when he got there, but Khalil sealed the deal when they roomed together at the all-star game? Happy?? It's hard to keep up with all of the Dooley/Butch sunshine pumpers.

You said earlier that McKenzie was the 'sole' reason that Kirkland chose Tennessee. Seriously, you're trying way too hard with all of this.

Yes, a coach getting fired was why he committed. Then the new coach turned his head, but the 5* legacy player helped reaffirm his commitment.

I'm so happy all of you are content with a 20-25 ranked class. It did wonders for Fulmer's last years and Dooley...

I never said anything about being "content" with this class.

You have no actual proof to back up what you say about Kirkland, because none exists. Kirkland was an early enrollee, and there was never any worry that he would flip to Michigan. And your argument to discredit Butch's role in his recruitment has more holes than the Titanic.

Ok, I also know that people close to the program said HJ was the hope for the future, not JG. This is a former player that speaks to the coaches almost daily.

...and there is no reason to believe a word of this. It makes zero sense given their respective skill sets.

Sorry, Brady Hoke losing his job and KM were the two reasons why he is here.
So youre going with he chose his destination based on the recruiting prowess of one high school kid? Had absolutely nothing to do with the relationships he built with coaches at UT? It's not like UM and UT were his only options. Stretch Armstrong would snap in half if he reached this far.

I know you have said that about 20 times now and have yourself on repeat, but it isn't signing day. There will still be a lot of movement of coaches and kids will flip. You seem to think signing day is today. If people point out kids that committed late last year, you try to discount it. You're just talking yourself in circles. The class won't end up 21, we have actually had 1 decommit for this class, the other kids were told to find somewhere else. You were probably one of the people b itching about the DCG commitment when he was a 2*, but it's the end of the world when he is a 4*.

You don't think high school players commit to schools because of another high school player enrolling there?

Ok let's flip the table, what are you hearing that makes you believe UT will finish strong?

Because Butch signing highly ranked players is a consistent theme during his tenure here, these decommitments aren't. It's an anomaly and I feel at the very least, it will balance out or close to it.

Why don't we all admit we will disappointed of this class finishes outside if the top 20?

If we do finish that low that will be worth perking up to make sure that wasn't a sign for future classes. Nothing more

That's the thing, no one knows. Last year it was the hand wringing over OL and how can we lose out on Justin Martin and who the F is John Kelly. Just let it play out. You are basically freaking out over a lost commitment from a kid from Louisiana and the possible decommit of a kid that may have decided he doesn't want to play 3000 miles from home.

I'm saying that 9 times out of 10, Saban and other proven coaches will beat him for a recruit with no affiliation to either school. Why? Because Saban has proven to be a winner. Some confidence was lost in Butch after the OU and UF games. Recruits see that and pay attention to it.

You do realize that is trajectory is pretty similar to what Sagan did at Michigan state

So you just don't count 2 straight top 5 classes and only the current class that we can only sign 20 players? you have every excuse in the book as to why a kid came here and like none cam because of Butch....makes no sense at all. All these kids have friends at schools all over the country. It takes more than buddies to sign. You can make every excuse you want to bash Butcch but he is the reason we pulled 2 straight top 5 classes.

This is his third full recruiting class. You're acting like his sample size is huge. Look at his 2013 class... Look at his '14 and '15 classes( many of the out of state '14 players have transferred).

I would say his '14 and '15 classes would be the anomaly because he had many different factors on his side and he could sell playing time.

Now he's been here long enough that the recruits want to see his results, and don't think other programs aren't pointing out the blown games.

Also, what was Butch's main position to coach? Seems like WR recruits would expect more out of a coach who specializes in their position.

No, that guy 3,000 miles from home is going even a few more miles south to play for a guy who can win. Kongbo is interested in BAMA now.
