'17 IN QB Hunter Johnson (Former UT Commit 8/23/15) (Clemson commit)

Likely headed for a drop on 247. Finished 12 of 12 QBs for entire weekend on Barton's updated rankings. Not exactly what they expect from #1 QB. I get the feeling Davis Mills, Tua, or Fromm will be their top QB very soon

I always thought JG was the better athlete overall than HJ. The recruiting services just liked HJ better for whatever weird reason considering he was the #1 overall QB in '17. We're alright at the QB position.

Never wanted this bum. I hope he throws about 30 ints this year so everybody can see what a pansy he is in real games. Enjoy the clipboard holding Gunner..oops I mean Hunter.

There are similarities to Kiel, no question. If I've ever seen a player likely to pout and transfer, this is the one.

What do you mean liked him better? They're 2 separate classes and 2 different types of QB's; they have nothing to do with the other. Yet, you keep comparing them as if it's one or the other.

I recall a concern that adding JG would hurt our chances with Hunter Johnson. Add in Sheriron Jones and suddenly, QB decisions for 2016 have a significant effect on later years. So, yes, they are related. Lots of moving pieces in the game.

I wonder will good ole Dabo keep HJ's commitment once he rankings start to fall, and he has a horrible senior year. Will that class hold together with no QB? Karma is a ruthless b***h.

Doesn't mean you can't have both. He says he would rather have JG so screw HJ. Guess what, it's possible to have both and many would love to know we had 4 QB's on the roster.

Adding JG? He committed 4 months before HJ did. Johnson knew what we had when he jumped on board.

I'm no fan of this kid either.

But this is pathetically petty.

I'll give you that. It felt petty when I typed it. I started to delete, but I thought, nah..I feel grumpy about this class. It may be pathetic, it may be petty, but it is how I feel right now. So in essence, I really just don't care what anybody thinks. I don't like this dude...but heck it's just a silly forum, full of silly people talking about a silly game.

Obviously it isn't possible to have both if one decides (regardless of timing) that he doesn't want to show up behind JG and SJ. We aren't talking about how a generic kid makes a decision, rather how a specific one does it. IF HJ decided he didn't want to be behind JG, then the coach has to pick.

Personally I don't mind to hear about the thrust of Johnsons momentum petering out.

How does the coach pick? Butch took HJ's commitment 4 months after JG's so he clearly didn't choose one or the other. He wanted a QB in '16 and a QB in '17. HJ decided he didn't want to come to UT for whatever reason. Maybe it was because JG was a year ahead of him, although that doesn't make much sense seeing as how he committed knowing a top 5 QB was already in the fold in that class.

feeling grumpy about a recruiting class in July is silly at its silliest.

I think its silly at it it's silliest to act like this class is going well. We have no momentum with any of the elite players we're after. Any hiccups this season and we'll be lucky to finish top 25.

Good grief lighten up. How do you build momentum? Win games! If you cannot grasp that come back to the board in February.

If we don't finish in the top 15 Ill go to church the Sunday after NSD.
