The only one I think will be worth much is Tee, and he may not qualify. Even if he does, he seems a lot like another 5* WR with similiar measurables, and questionable heart/desire that just quit. He is talented, and I'm not going to predict "bust" for him...But Hunter Johnson is a coach killer type bust imo. I've always said that.

I couldn't care less whether JG wins a Heisman. I'd prefer he be a 3 time, first team All American. the Heisman has become a joke.

What do you base the heart/desire on?

Also, whether either of them end up great isn't the point, it was about the perception/momentum of the class. At least, that was my interpretation.

Agree with this. Had an overall negative impact/snowball effect on the class. More importantly it halted the snowball effect that could have been. We had a great start to the class and after the HJ decommit, Tee Higgins followed with his decommit. Then when July 4th came and he spurned us for Clemson, the class had no momentum.

Like I said in an earlier post even if HJ never takes a snap, his decommit really hurt the 2017 signing class for UT.

Hunter is much more athletic than most people on this board realize. He would have fit in here. Having said that, JG will be running around with his Canon for an arm. Future looks as bright as it did while Hunter was commited here.

Several games of his I watched...Games not highlights...And maybe the perception would have been better, but whose recruitment would it have altered? Nobody of consequence that I can tell. Our class would be ranked higher sure, but I don't see how having a guy who probably won't qualify and a coach killer bust of a QB helps. In the end the class would just have more sucky worthless attrition like PW and others. Highly ranked dead weight.

Higgins games?

The coach killer stuff is a little overkill. QBs end up bust all the time, which is why you aim to recruit the best ones possible every year.

Hard to say who it would have altered, but followed long enough to not doubt it would have helped.

No..Hunter Johnsons games. I've only seen highlights of Higgins. HJ is a great thrower of the ball for sure, but football player..not so much. He looks like he got that deer in the headlights look literally everytime he got pressured that I saw. No fortitude. I was just as hyped as everybody else at first about getting him, but after I actually watched him, I lost interest. I admittedly have no idea how he played this year. I have not followed him at all, other than what I've seen here.

I agree about the coach killer comment, but having a major bust at QB hurts. I know McBride is not a uber talented passer, but he has moxie, and he can move really well. In the long run he will be more valuable than HJ would have ever been IMO. I realize opinions are worthless, hell HJ could end up growin a set and turnin into Tom Brady, but ut is just what I believe about him.

If a Tennessee player wins it, he would have to have an unbelievable year. It might be a joke, but if JG did win it, we would have won a ton of games.

I just read an entire page exclusively about Vols football, complete with opposing viewpoints and devoid of insults, name calling, and oneupmanship! This is a welcome turn of events, and how this board was designed to function. Akers was never going anywhere that didn't run a pro style offense. He made that abundantly clear over and over. Butch is never going to run a pro style..He has made that abundantly clear over and over. If he didn't overhaul for Hurd, he sure wasn't doing it for Akers. That alone is the reason I never thought we were really getting Akers.
