'17 LA CB Cheyenne Labruzza (UT signeee)

I wish they would just let kids who are solid sign even if its early. Then only let them out of its a coaching change. It would stop some of the silly season and then you could maybe give that kid some of the schools resources from an academic standpoint to help make sure they get in to school and are prepared for school once they get there

There are kids who actually sign on NSD that almost immediately try to change their minds. Not to mention coaching changes that weren't apparent BEFORE the season. Just a can of worms that's already partially open...why bust it open early?

As long as LSU doesn't start pushing for him, he might sign with us.

I've been wrong before but I think LSU wants 3 CBs, I don't keep up with this stuff too much though, anymore. My guess is it comes down to Kary Vincent who is expected to announce soon. Vincent is LSU #1 target. From what I can gather from the recent camps Amik Robertson might be in the running for the third slot, he had an ACL injury his junior year, but from what I was told he did really well at the recent camp. The knock on Robertson is lack of size, Adam Sparks has done good at the recent camps but is committed to Vandy.

I think (guess) LSU ends up with Vincent, Robertson and Kirklin (current commit)... if LSU doesn't get Vincent than you figure they might want to add another push on Labruzza.

Labruzza has also set his sights on getting some talent to join Tennessee’s class, targeting two 5-star studs.

“I’m trying to recruit (running back) Cam Akers and (athlete) Deangelo Gibbs.”

Keep the pressure up, young man. Maybe work on some of our instate wants as well while you are at it.

But I thought we had nobody recruiting for us and only guys recruiting against us?

Come on! Let us get one LA kid. Take Coleman. That's our counter offer. Thanks.

Haha. I'll pass it along. LSU wants one more RB but I think what I have heard is either they get Akers or they are done, possibly an offer to Travis Etienne but that is me guessing.

I mentioned early in the year that this year's class in La. would not be good, I think LSU got the memo... only 6 of the 15 are from La. and one is a coach's son and I wouldn't be surprised by another coach's son. La. is not the place to go shopping imo this year, generally, might be the worse class in memory by a long shot.

Les might have terrible clock management skills, but he is usually right on the mark as far as which kids to offer in state, sure there have been a couple that he didn't offer but he is really good at in state evaluation.... if he doesn't offer I am suspect.

I seem to recall that his evaluation of D'Andre Christmas-Giles involved offering him two days after Rivals bumped him from 2* to 5*. CBJ, on the other hand, offered him when he was still a 2*. Just sayin'.

I'm just a casual poster but everyday reader and I will say it is refreshing to see a rival poster to come with info without all the bravado and my team is better than yours!

Having to deal with the likes of Greyson dawg and the idiots from Clemson, it is a pleasure to have you on our site!

:hi: Thank you for the kind words.

This is one of the better forums on the internet, trust me Vol fans are generally much better than the typical LSU bonehead.... they (LSU boneheads) not only drink too much purple kool-aid, sometimes the even drink the yellow kool-aid.

I'm a Vol fan as well, a good portion of my family now lives in Tennessee. Thank you again and most of the Vol fans here are great.

Yea, the Christmas thread is around somewhere. I believe he really didn''t play his junior year and I don't think he attended any camp... his stock did rise during his senior year.... LSU was desperate for additional DL in the new scheme.

I didn't mean to imply that if LSU doesn't offer first than its suspect.... more or less... if there is no LSU offer its suspect but there have been a few exceptions... Eddie Lacy will be pointed to, but there were other reasons why he was not extended an offer.... there have been a few others but more or less LSU doesn't overlook many.... they might overshoot, but rarely undershoot on the in state guys.

One of the best rival posters on this board.

IIRC, LSU didn't give Mathieu a committable offer until after Kiffin extended one. I'm not saying LSU typically misses on evaluations early. However, LSU simply has the in-state recruiting strength to afford to offer late and still get whoever they want in-state (most of the time).

Mathieu if I remember correctly was not given an offer until after he tore up LSU's camp.... IIRC he was offered by the Vols after their camp, and about a month later he was given a commit and took it on the spot at LSU. Yes, the Vols did spot him in camp and gave him an offer... not sure if it was committable. Many LSU fans were actually upset at the offer as Mathieu was pegged up to that point to be a nobody, maybe end up at Tulane. If iirc, really LSU and Tennessee were the only schools after him, before that he was basically a no star with the rating agencies. He would have probably never gotten a offer if he didn't come to camp.... Les leaves a lot of guys on the table that don't come to camp.

The Vols have done a good job (mostly) with pin pointing some diamond in the rough with La. recruits. There have been a few misfires but that is bound to happen i.e. Bourque. The one I thought LSU should have offered and didn't was Otha Peters, who originally committed to the Vols than jumped and went to Razorbacks, than left that program and now plays for the Ragin Cajuns. Les was probably right on that one as well. There have been a few other players that have done well with TCU that Les didn't offer but the list is pretty short... the big one is Eddie Lacy, but that was not because of the lack of talent.

Don't get me wrong, Les has picked some (quite a few) duds but he very rarely undershoots on the in-state guys. Labruzza has had a LSU offer for some time, and has a good relationship with the staff, he comes to the camps, and I think he is going to the camp this weekend as well. Vincent is very high on LSU's list, and is the #1 target for LSU either way. It just looks like LSU is still recruiting but making alternative arrangements.

BTW, thanks guys for all the nice comments. :hi: It really is a great forum and I don't have to worry about the purple koolaid drinkers. LOL

Only orange koolaid drinkers

Vincent committed to LSU over the weekend, so in theory LSU might have one more CB slot. Most think Labruzza is sticking with the Vols, but at this stage unless something changes CB is mostly filled although they could add one more and Amik Robertson might get an offer down the line. Long way to signing day but not much smoke about Labruzza at this point. Vincent committing makes it less of a priority of another CB.
