'17 LA RB Trey Coleman (UT signee)

You're right about Butch.

But I don't think Coleman is going anywhere. Hes going to blow up his senior year. LSU will come knocking.

Hes as good as a prospect as we're recruiting.

That's the reason I don't worry much about commitments like this especially from LA kids. When LSU offers late, you will usually lose them anyway.

Looks like the staff may have picked him over Chase Hayden.

Hopefully it works out. Taking LA kids early is risky. That LSU offer comes and they usually gone. If it were one or the other I'd have taken Hayden. Being #224 on Rivals, he would have been our highest rated commitment today. Only other one in the top 250 is Bumphus at #249. Yes I know rankings aren't everything.

Great burst and top notch hands/ball skills. Does anyone know the caliber of talent he's playing against in these highlights?

In watching the first dozen or so plays of his Hudl film it appeared the teams competing are at a high level. That was a competent defense on the other side and he didn't have great blocking. This kid has quick feet and good size. I hope we can keep him.

I think Hayden is being recruited as a Slot guy or an athlete for the offense. I don't think he will stick at HB.

"Trey Coleman, RB, West Monroe (La.) High School - This is another one that we have a lot higher than the industry. He's just a tough, no-nonsense running back that hails from one of the best high school football programs in the country. He's a back with size who is going to break one tackle for you every run. I like him because he does so many things well. He can block, he can catch, he can get tough yards for you. I see Coleman as the type of back that does a lot of the dirty work for an offense."

Was Coleman always from Louisiana? His scouting report sounds a lot like a former VOL from Frostproof Fla, who had a lot of kids.:)

I can't say I'm super pumped about this pick up (or that OL).

The one thing I keep telling myself is that Akransas thought this kid was good enough to offer. Say what you will about Bielma (or even Arkansas), but he knows a thing or two about running backs.

I wanted to be ticked off about this commit but this kid can play. The videos I've seen look legitimate.

I like this kid. Looks better than Hayden to me. I could be wrong, but I bet the coaches picked him over Hayden.

Very good observation.

West Monroe is a powerhouse in Louisiana and always produce talent.

The kid from GA -who is 6'7" 330- plays with Roswell; an emerging powerhouse in Georgia.

These two kids comw from two of the best high school programs in the country. Both are very good rest assured.

Yep Butch prefers to recruit kids that are used to winning championships or competing for them. I don't see how anyone can watch Colemans film and not like him. They are probably thinking more of this means not getting both Akers and Chandler which was very unlikely in first place. Give me anyone of chandler and Akers and this Coleman kid and that a very good RB class. Colemans that kid that makes the first guy miss which is big in spread out offense

Why so unlikely?

Fans are obsessed with stars and rankings.

We just got a commitment from a talented RB that plays for one of the top programs in the south.

West Monroe is on par with John Curtis and Evangel Christian Acadamey down there. I think West Monroe beat a team from Florida last year, and they play out of state traveling Academis like IMG.

Okay? Not sure the correlation to my question.
