'17 LA RB Trey Coleman (UT signee)

Okay? Not sure the correlation to my question.

Ha! I saw what you wrote as "unlikey". Which isnt a word, but I thought you were asking in your own way WHY PEOPLE AREN'T EXCITED about Coleman.

But you were responding to the orevious poster. My bad

Really like how he hits the hole and can shake the first guy. Seems like CBJ has found a quality RB that isn't hyped like the others. Like his size too, he will be a brick house in college

He doesn't sound like someone who will be easily plucked away from the Vols by LSU or anyone else.

Louisiana running back Trey Coleman's heart 'always' with Tennessee Vols football

“But Tennessee was always just the main one in my heart.”

“It’s just special here,” Coleman said. “I love the atmosphere. The people here love me, and I love the coaches. They’re real cool, and they wanted me real bad from the beginning, before any other college wanted me or even knew about me. They just kept their love throughout my high school (career) and throughout the summers. I just feel at home here.

“Mainly it’s just the atmosphere and the love. It’s the love that made me feel like at home. If I feel like that, I feel like you’ve got my heart. And if you’ve got my heart, you’ve got me. So really the second time, I just wanted to see if it still felt the same, and it still felt the same way, so I had to go on and come home.”

Coleman — the nation’s No. 34 overall athlete in 247Sports’ 2018 rankings and No. 72 overall athlete in the industry-generated 247Sports Composite — said no program has “even come close” to the love Tennessee has consistently showed him.

“My first visit here, I was just like, ‘Man, I love it,’” Coleman said. “Other places I went, they liked me, but they didn’t treat me like they needed me. But here, they treated me like they really needed me and cared about me — about my education, on the field, off the field, you know what I mean?

“They’re gonna take care of me here, and everything just turned out well.”

“It’s a big opportunity, knowing that their top two running backs are gonna leave,” he said. “That’s gonna give me a slot to at least compete and play on the field early. That was a big part of it, too. So, I mean, it all just worked out for me.”

The family atmosphere was Coleman’s biggest reason for picking the Vols, though. He mentioned that multiple times, adding that Knoxville just feels like home to his despite looking nothing like his hometown.

“I love the campus. It’s real big and real nice,” he said. “I like how they’re building the new dorm, and I like how everything is so close together. You can walk everywhere around here. And I love them hill, man. There was even a house on top of a hill. It was crazy. I love the hills. I love how the water is right behind the stadium and stuff, and all the boats.

“I love all of it.”

Coleman said there’s a small chance he’ll visit another school or two, but he said he’s “100 percent” committed to Tennessee and doesn’t foresee anything changing that.

“I might take a visit or something, but most likely I’m just gonna shut it down,” he said. “I’m probably just gonna shut it down. This is where I want to be.”

I like this pickup. He can be the back who gets the tough yards when Hurd and Kelly leave. Needs to work on his top end speed, but other than that he looks good.

I love this pick up. This kid is a no nonsense back with tremendous vision. His skill set translates well to the next level. Some guys are a lot of flash and dash with exciting HS film, but don't always transition well to the college level facing much better athletes. This guy has natural tools that can't be taught.

His style reminds me of a bigger Isaiah Pead that played for Cincinnati.

Not sure I agree with people saying Coleman will be our guy who grinds out the tough yards. In his highlights he runs really hard, but finishes an awful lot of runs by going our of bounds instead of lowering a shoulder.

Butch to Trey. "You wanna run out of bounds, keep on running till you get to the bench".

Umm no Im guessing Butch is telling Trey while you are in high school, you better get out of bounds and get here healthy, then we will work on lowering that shoulder.

Lol really? That's junior film....

Ha that would probably happen and Nation would have a seizure at his 40k less a year job.

That stiff arm got him to the boundary in most cases. That is one thing that stood out to me. Why lower your shoulder and loose momentum when you can just extend your arm and throw defenders to the ground. 3rd and 1 up the gut is a different animal though and not highlight tape worthy. Not many can live up to the standard Hurd set for lowering the shoulder. But yes I haven't seen enough to anoint him the "grinder" on 3rd down.

What's the word on the street about his hands? 10 fingers like Spiderman would be great.

Not very explosive from the vid I watched. Top end speed not impressive. Does not look like an SEC rb to me. I can understand why the offer list was poor. Could be a good backup guy to grind out the yards in the 4th qtr. Watch the film on Akers if you want to see the type of back we need.

Two different backs that play against two different completion levels. Coleman is an SEC back. One of those Arkansas bruiser types.
