It's absolutely stupidity to state matter of factly that Kelly will be 3rd string by mid-season.

It doesn't take much of the eye test to see that Kelly is a very capable back, he fits the offense very well. What's not to like about him, he runs like he is on fire every play and gives it all he has got. He has very good quickness and is a strong runner for his size. He and Chandler will be a good 1-2 punch if we don't get another back before signing day. With our O-Line that we have coming back I expect us to be able to run very well. GBO!!!!

I mean 560 yards with 6.7 YPC almost all being in SEC play sounds pretty good to me. He had the 6th best YPC in the SEC.

I don't think anyone's saying he's an elite level RB, but he's going to at least compete for the starting job.

You can't play that game with a straight face. There is no defense that stopped him so you can't start asking guys to results that don't apply.

I am not ready to give Kelly "elite" status yet that's a little too much right now. However to say he would be third string is crazy. Kelly is the starter barring injury. He has all the staffs confidence as well as being a huge pulse of the team. The only reason I will not give him elite status is he isn't the starter yet and i don't know that his body could handle the full workload pounding of SEC. We def need another workhorse like we have on Chandler. A 3rd IMO would be very helpful as well. There is def more room for a 3 man rotation with that group than there was when it was the Hurd /Kamara show.

For the record I said he was a good back, he just hasn't proven to be elite. If he was he would have gotten carries ahead of a 3.7 yds per carry Hurd. Instead he racked up yardage against garbage defenses. I stand by my thoughts that if Akers commits with Chandler already on board, Kelly will most likely see his carries nose dive by mid season next year.

If Kelly is third string then my god I prey for opponents defenses for years to come because Kelly is a NFL Halfback

I don't think Kelly gets passed up by anyone next year.

Staff and teammates love him. He'll be the guy next year, although think Chandler and CFA will see plenty of snaps.
