'17 MS RB Cam Akers (FSU commit 12/27)

That was not trolling. He didn't claim inside information. That is simply called being a fan and showing some optimism. Lighten up.

I can be optimistic about winning the lottery.

But it would be more helpful if I actually bought a ticket.

Y'all are hoping to find the winning numbers laying on the ground outside of a gas station because it fell out of someone's pockets.

That's not optimism. It's delusion.

Please explain to me how high school football film makes you so confident that a freshman can outplay Kelly

Akers is an elite recruit, and Chandler is too. If they both are our roster, then it's likely they will overtake Kelly, who was not as highly rated out of HS and has not had the opportunity to prove he can perform at an elite level against good defenses.

It's just a prediction, an opinion, yet people get so emotional defending players. Disagree? Fine, express your disagreement without condescention and insults - not directed at you, just speaking generally.

If Akers commits here I don't see a running back getting over 40% of the carries. The hype train for Kelly is out of control right now. He runs hard and has good vision but he doesn't have elite speed and I would say his ability to make people miss is pretty average.

Careful, your objectivity is not welcome here

I asked you to point out what on high school film made you so confident that two freshman would be put ahead of John Kelly.

If your defense is based on recruiting websites and star ratings. Then I laugh.

Yes, the optimism that Akers is coming here is certainly running rampant right now.

That is a ridiculous analogy. Akers has listed Tennessee as a finalist and obviously has at least some interest. There is nothing wrong with showing some optimism on your team's message board... and yes, that's what it is. Get a life.

My flight out of New York has been delayed and I will be in the air during the announcment. Hopefully still in the air since the delay is due to mechanical failure.

Yikes! I was in Houston waiting to board a flight to Puebla, Mexico, and they announced a delay because they were waiting on a part. I texted hubby and told him. Five minutes later they announced we could start boarding.

So basically you want box scores which is the only way you seemingly determine talent.

Well, how else would you evaluate a RB other than looking at their on the field production with the quality of the opponent taken into consideration along with when in the game they got their yardage? 4th quarter garbage time doesn't have a lot of meaning, etc.

Kelly was a 4 star on at least 1 service and Mich St recruited very hard for his services. Time will tell if he is elite, with a good offensive line I think a tandem of Kelly and Chandler would work well. He has showed my enough that I am confident he can handle the job in the SEC, that's just my opinion. Time will tell who is right. GBO!!!! Now back to Akers, here's to shocking the college football world. GO BIG ORANGE!!!!!

You can use your eyes to see. He has plenty of game reps to judge. Seems simple to me

That was his uneducated attempt at an analogy.

High school film?? Talk about laughing.....

How about the fact that Akers is considered the #1 rb recruit in the country? You laughing at that?

I don't necessarily agree with Fade on this because I do believe that Kelly has shown that he can be an outstanding SEC RB. But demanding HUDL film as proof that Akers and Chandler will overtake him if they come to UT....that's just silly.

This thread has trailed WAY off

this ship is about 500 miles off course and everyone has knives to each others throats

Yep lol. Btw I have no problem with anyone thinking that Kelly, whom not just MSU but also Michigan wanted badly, is an elite back. Anyways back to work.

Kelly has come a lot closer to showing he is elite than not. It's fair to say you want to see him do it against the better defenses but to say he has shown he isn't elite is ignorant at this point

I wouldnt say he has shown "elite" yet. He has shown good with a chance to get there.
