'17 MS TE Chase Rogers (Former UT commit)

The 2016 class was disappointing. Compared to what we needed to where we want to go, it was a flop. Now with two lowly rated three star recruits pledged we are broadcasting to better talent instate and across the nation that Tennessee will settle for anybody that will commit to come to Knoxville. Butch is erring badly by allowing these long shot prospects to publicly sign on.
We will only win championships with highly rated prospects that peer recruit and love the color Orange.......read Mo's comments after "committing" to us.
Now.....before my fellow Vol fans begin their ad hominem attacks.....A.K.A. shoot the messenger....attacks on me; go and look at the recruits now pledged to AL, GA, MS, and Clemson...BTW, Clemson already has two 4*s out of TN committed and possibly more to come, and then look at our two pledges. Are we tooling up to compete with them?....it doesn't look like it. Our recruits, while they may be fine young men and able athletes; just aren't in the league we have to have. We want recruits with star quality and success follows success.....the top talent we need will not be impressed to sign on with what we have committed to us up to now. Come on Butch, we're solidly behind you....let's do better than this.

Since it is only March, I feel I need to save my better recruiting replies for later in the year, so I will simply say...

Not one of the brightest posts I've ever seen.

Chase drowned when he was 4, took me over 2 mins for me to bring him back to life. During those 2 mins I saw visions of his life. A lot of familiar things from that day has happened. I saw in playing professional football. I look for sign to show us what God wants from him. Unheard of to be under water for close to 5 mins and live. He was chosen to do great things in life with this new chance. So many sign that Tennessee is right for us. We are so happy to part if this family...

This was from his dad...this is a big deal to them so keep any snide remarks to yourself just because "professional talent evaluators" (yeah, right) don't put stars beside his name. Also says he is a legit 6'3

Thanks, great post. 247 said they have really liked him for some time, and only wanted to verify his height in person to nail the offer. Some of his catches are just sick.

I agree. If you have comments like that there are a million places you could put them other than the players thread. Or at least wait until some point other than right after the commit

So.......how does he look on film?

Posts by Ole Miss/MSU Fans on SECRant.

Congrats. He's a hell of a player.

Chase is a hell of an athlete. He was waiting and waiting for that ole miss offer. His mom told me yesterday before it became official he was Tennessee bound. Said he loved the facilities and everything they're doing there. Said they felt led on by ole miss. I asked if we offer will he flip she said no way.

Agreed. Underrated player.

Chase father played for ole miss. His whole family is big ole miss fans. I believe chase father and Tom luke played together. I personally believe we could flip him but his mom told me last night that he was solid and may not take his 5 visits. Btw his mom is hot.

Tenn is getting a great kid that's for sure. He comes from a spectacular family well mannered young man. Raised by 2 great parents along with grandparents. Kid will be a stud and I'll be pulling for him cause I like him. I met him thru his mom and was asknishrd at how good of a player the kid was and how well mannered he was. Won't have to worry about him being on any trouble before he gets there or while he's there.

Bolded part seems most important

Just watched this kid's film and it is spectacular. Athletic as hell and plays with an edge. Great pickup!

Love the fact that even though he spends most of his time in the slot, whenever they moved in or as an H-back he either put someone on roller skates or on their back. Some TEs have a problem with physicality when they spend the majority of the time in space, and he clearly loves the contact

One thing is consistent with Vol recruiting: there is a type of player they are looking for at each position. Sounds like Scott went after Rodgers aggressively to get his commitment. They definitely like his potential. I would say that Rodgers should have a successful career at UT. I wonder if he will be an EE? I bet he will be much bigger by the time he arrives. Given that his family has close ties to Ole Miss, Freeze and company will continue to try and change his mind. I think getting to learn under Scott will be a huge factor in him coming to the Vols.

Watched his Hudl film. Good speed. Runs like Hurd after the catch. Tough to bring down. Plays with an attitude. Check out the pancake block - crushed that kid and didn't let up. I can see why he got Scott's attention!!!!

This is another example of why the rating services can't be reliable sources of information.

With all you say here wouldn't it be better to just wait to celebrate as you say "for the kid" until the Ink is dry after he really makes the cut?

He accomplished something I never will. Even if its temporary it still existed that he is/was a wanted commit to the University of Tennessee. I would consider that a win in my book. Even if we do boot him, he gets extra attention for being our commit, by schools, ranking services and fans. its not like being "committed" doesn't have any perks.

I won't take away from this experience of his until something changes. not sure why people are throwing around so many conditions on this commitment.
