'17 NC DE Matthew Butler (UT Signee)

We also gave him a shot at QB before he moved to WR. We flat out told Foster he was a DE. Slightly different.

I am also glad that we took Jennings. Dude is a monster.
Exactly. People complain about the coaches being dishonest or shady with recruits but we were upfront and told him what he didn't want to hear. Clemson told him what he wanted to hear but I bet they switch him to DE toot sweet.

Toute de Suite?

Don't be tooting in the suite I paid for ya dang stinky bastard!

Maybe he just like tokin' the herb he may not want or need any help.

I think I remember seeing that it wasn't devil's lettuce but might have been something more serious. If it was just the ganja then so be it.

I thought Kyle Phillips and Kongbo did ok. They are not top 2 material but could provide decent depth. I think that we do also need both at DE too, so we definitely need to develop more depth at DT.

And that is sort of what I am getting at. Just doing "ok" won't cut it when you are a top flight recruit. These players have been either over-hyped or underdeveloped (probably a combo of both). I have to see huge strides of improvement at many positions on defense to have any confidence that this team wont get routed yet again next season. Our CBs are just down right bad. No other way to put it.

Because if a DL isn't fully developed by the time he gets to his second fall camp then he never will be right? Phillips has been here less than two years and Kongbo less than one, and neither had been DT before getting here. Let's give it some time.

I totally agree about the corners though. Seem to have regressed.

Getting Butler and Corker would satisfy me. It would complete a top 10 class. Athough, with the in-state talent, especially with the 2 local WRs, we could have had a top 5 class, I can,at least, sleep at night, knowing, Butch did a decent job recruiting, considering the dumpster fire after the Vandy game

Those two would not make it a top ten class

Maybe it wouldn't make it a top 10 class across the board, but it would be damn close. According to Rivals, Butler has been the best player at the Shrine Game. He is, or will be, a DT, our biggest need, besides, maybe, DBs. We land him with Chandler, Smith,Gray, Murphy and hopefully Corker, I will be satisfied.

If we could add Ray or Akers, I would be ecstatic. But, I am trying to be realistic, just get Butler and Corker and anybody else, will be gravy
