'17 NC LB Justin Foster

We started recruiting him while Jancek was still DC. We continued to recruit him because he is a helluva football player, but things change. Kids bodies change from year to year. A kid shows up to a camp one year at 225 and you say "wow! He'll be a beast linebacker if we can get him". He shows up the next year at 250 and you still love the kid but he no longer fits at linebacker in your system. You talk to him about taking some reps at DE. In his mind he is still a LB. This is a hypothetical situation, but it happens all the time. Sometimes the coaches get it wrong, but in most cases they know what is best for long term success. Could you imagine Javon Kearse or Brian Urlacher insisting on continuing to play safety?

That's what coaching is for. You sign quality football players and coach them.

I'll take both. Especially as Bituli is already there and Foster is an option in this class.

Dont you know? Butch offers everybody. The offer is not commitable. If he commits, its likely he will be pushed aside by better players. A UT offer means absolutely nothing.

We have LBs who are 6'0-6'1 and 235. Foster is 6'4 245. Too heavy? Doesn't make sense to me.

P-Fort said today the staff viewed him as a bad fit for our defense and they haven't pushed in a good while. Who knows if true. Regardless, recruiting is struggling for sure right now and I'm not impressed at all with this LB class.

Maybe. But Page and Henderson are both versatile and they can both run.

I wouldn't say Foster is a done deal by any means. The people I've spoken with aren't sure where he's going right now. I don't know that he has made up his mind. That said, I don't think Tennessee really is worried about adding another LB right now. The Vols are recruiting Foster just because he's talented. Wooten looks like a long shot at best, and I don't see anything happening with Taylor. The Jacob Phillips ship sailed long ago.

So what classification would posters who immediately discount another posters eval fall under? Possibly classify that group as the baaa's? Or maybe the groupies?

I'm all ears for suggestions...

That's the biggest question of this class to me. I'm not professional though so I'm not gonna blast the kid but I agree with you.
