'17 NC OL TJ Moore (former USCe commit)

Imo the classes are getting worse. Plus he has had what....like 25 ppl leave that he cruited. Thats a whole class. Most of top instate talent isn't to thrilled about coming here.

Just an FYI we are 5th in the SEC (out of 14) in recruiting, and should pass AM with the Smith commit.

So we'll be 4th in the SEC in December. Considering Bama wins it every year... That's not terrible.

Players leave at every school. Not just UT. But this is VN where we freak out about our team and minimize everything else at other schools as if it didn't happen

It's the same thing in just about every thread. Cry me a river. There are a lot of three stars, but this isn't a Dooley class. Breyon Gaddy, Brandon Gaddy, Jordan Murphy, C.J. Cotman, Tre Lawson, Eric Crosby, Kivon Bennett, Latrell Bumphus, and Cheyenne Labruzza are all three stars and they are all SEC talents, and there are more. Several are borderline four star recruits, and many posters are going to look ignorant when their opinions of these kids change over night because they get bumps in the rankings.

This.

The commits by position really tell the story.

We have 4 solid DT commits right now. I don't remember a year with 4 HS defensive tackles committed.

The line of scrimmage is where we've been getting dominated. When we can control the line of scrimmage on both sides, we will start winning championships.

Need 2-3 more OL - we're still hurting from Dooley's 2012 class with zero OL.

You simply don't win in the SEC with average recruiting. You have to have top 10 clssses. It's statistically proven.

Unless you're Florida. 😐

Or Auburn, I suppose. Could be mistaken, but I believe their National Championship team was composed of just one or two Top-10 classes.

Guess we can hope that JG is the next Cam Newton.

2 in row tho.

That's the problem. Last years class was an indication of things to come. Recruiting will continue to slide IMO. This staff can't win with top talent, they sure can't with mid range talent. Especially in the SEC. I've said all along their recruiting tactics would catch up to them. It was just a matter of time. IMO we are seeing it now.

If you put any stock in the star system on recruits then last year the per recruit star rating was the highest class Butch has had here.

I believe if you figure in all the blue shirt guys who actually counted to last years class, it is not the highest average rated class for this staff.

So when does it catch up with the other sec programs? What Butch and Co. does is no different than the other big time programs in the SEC or conferences.

Which is why the entire conference is so bad. It's ridiculous that folks can look at a HUDL page for two minutes and know more about a kid that the coaches who camp with them. Now on top of knowing all of our players are bad, they can point to the reason the team will never recruit well without ever having a conversation with a coach, player, or prospect.

Last years class was a great class regardless of where it was ranked. You are a piece of work, or another four letter word that starts with S.

How's 2018's recruiting looking so far?

If everything goes well and we don't have major coaching turnover (who knows, that could potentially boost it) 2018 looks like it's going to be a big year for us. The in state DL class that year is great if we land those guys

I hope you're right, but most of the board thought Butch was going to land a top 5 class for 2017, but he couldn't secure many of the top kids out of TN, or land a top QB.

INb4 someone points out it's only November.
