'17 TN ATH Jacoby Stevens (LSU commit)

If LSU doesn't beat Bama this year Les is out. Considering they pretty much never change anything on offense and run Fournette straight ahead I think it's safe to say it'll be another loss to the Tide, so we should get an edge there. Not sure why he's so wrapped up in UGA, the team that ALWAYS does less with more. Oh well...

“georgia’s still on top. Lsu is second. I would say that ut pushed themselves up to (no.) 3. And then i’d put florida state and florida right there,” said stevens, who’s ranked the nation’s no. 23 overall prospect and no. 1 athlete and the no. 2 player from the state of tennessee in the 247sports composite for the 2017 class

“(i like) just the excitement there. It’s just everything that they’re doing — how they’re treating the players, the great things they have to say. I grew up with these guys and actually have seen them play. When i see kyle (phillips) play and kyle having fun, i can see myself jumping up and down and giving kyle a chest bump.”

“i don’t think coach shoop would let me not go back to tennessee,” he said. “i think i’ll go back in the summer.”

Two (Shoop and Aranda) excellent DC's

But I'm biased so if Shoop wants Shoop gets :)

Yeah, whether at UT or LSU he is going to be under the tutelage of a ~top 5 DC. Not so much at UGA; just like their unproven HC, they have an unproven DC. If we can pull a Kyle Phillips in this recruitment and just stay in it till the end and then break through for the win, that would be amazing.

Oh, Mel Tucker is proven....just not good.

"I think LSU and Georgia have been the top two. Shoop gives the Vols a chance. I think the key is that the longer it goes the better. If he's making an early decision then that's not good for the Vols. He told me he wasn't sure when he would be making a decision. The longer it goes the better the Vols chances are."

Here's my opinion on Stevens, and only my opinion. I don't feel this staff is going in 100% his recruitment due to his in the field issues he has. Not only racking up personal fouls, but not getting along with some of his teammates. Out of the 3 times I watched Oakland, he was getting into it with the other team or his own teammates. Even at the 7 on 7s before the season started I heard from his teammates "Here we go, Jacobys about to fight"

That being said, I've heard nothing but great things about him in the classroom, as a person, etc. Teachers have nothing but great things to say about him.

Butch seems to be very proud of having a well desciplined football Program that doesn't get a lot of yellow flags thrown at them, something I don't think Stevens does well.

Interview with scout said he talked with his father about potentially doing something early but has not made up his mind yet. He said that he believed CBJ speech about in-state players staying home was directed at him.

TOS said a decision might be made, no timetable when to announce but won't go long.

ALCOA, Tenn. — Earlier this month, JaCoby Stevens released a list of his top seven college choices in order that included Tennessee at No. 5, behind three other SEC teams along with Florida State.

The five-star junior athlete from Oakland High School in Murfreesboro, Tenn., said his visit to Tennessee on Saturday for its spring-ending Orange and White Game helped the Vols “a lot” and allowed them to move “up to (No.) 3” on his list behind only Georgia and LSU.

“Georgia’s still on top. LSU is second. I would say that UT pushed themselves up to (No.) 3. And then I’d put Florida State and Florida right there,” said Stevens, who’s ranked the nation’s No. 23 overall prospect and No. 1 athlete and the No. 2 player from the state of Tennessee in the 247Sports Composite for the 2017 class.

“Right now, I would say I would throw my hands up in the air and say I don’t know,” he said. “These schools are pushing hard, and I’m liking a group of schools right now. And I think, given time, I’m going to know where my place is going to be for the next three or four years.”

Take a look at the top of the quote. The list I put on the last page is from this article, posted 18 hours ago on the UT247. The article you linked has us 5th.

I know we're in a different position than we were with the 2014 class, but the coaches sure didn't mind Barnett getting personal fouls when they were recruiting him...
