'17 TN ATH Jacoby Stevens (LSU commit)

Overreact much? Sorry, but I seem to be redundant.

3 of those 6 were three stars. Calm down, if you can, and let's chill with the hyperbole. We will be fine.

And he seems to have lost his chubby for Byrd. Was calling him a perfect mix of Dez Bryant and Sean Taylor last year. :w00t: And his schtick is slipping with the "Barnett generational talent" mention...just a day ago referred to him as a short, high motor, unathletic chubwad.

You're funny. This kid is going to Georgia or LSU (most likely Georgia).

JaCoby isn't impressionable like the recruit mentioned in this post. Don't care who is all over him. Bama is NOT 2nd. He's going to Georgia (most likely). The only way he doesn't is if Arranda convinces him that his first choice was correct.

"I'm out here at a satellite camp in nashville and Jacoby Stevens is here working out. The Alabama coaching staff is rolling deep and its clear who they're here for.
Lane Kiffin, Derek Ansley, Jeremy pruitt and Mike Locksley are all here (private jetted in specifically for this and are jetting back out after) and they're going to every drill Jacoby goes to.

Bama has really made a move lately for Stevens. He was a lock for Georgia not long ago but now it looks like Bama has got a great shot."-247

Wishful thinking.

Dobbs, Hurd, Kamara, Barnett, JRM, and Sutton are generational talents. They're all gone after 2016 and they are not easily replaced. You're talking about 4 of the best players in program history when we talk about Dobbs, Hurd, Sutton, and Barnett. Dobbs will go down as a top 3 QB in program history. Hurd arguably a top 2 RB in program history. Barnett a top 3 DE. And Sutton a top 2 CB.

And then we're on track for another WEAK recruiting class in 2017. That means we won't have as much talent on team 121 as we did on team 120. Back to back classes rated in the 15-20 range is not winning championships.

Also if Butch fails in 2016, recruiting beyond 2017 will also tank. What will he have to sell to 2018 recruits? There's no more easily available playing time. And he'll have proven he can't coach a winner.

2016 is do or die if we want to be a perennial contender again.

Guess we'll have to finally give Gruden his shot

Are you crazy? He only has one super bowl win. We would need to hire Bill Belichick or all just quit watching the Vols imo.

I suppose it could be coincidence that the teams with the best recruiting rankings are playing for championships. It did take us signing about 60 kids in 2 top 5ish classes to get to a competitive level. Recruiting rankings matter. Usually the only ones saying they don't are the ones not getting the top talent. I'd also bet recruiting rankings matter to recruits. Not only their own ranking, but top talent a lot of times wants to play alongside other top talent.

I get the point you are trying to make, but the really good coaches don't need rankings by the services to tell them who are the top players. Hell, often times a player gets a loftier ranking simply because he gets offered by one or more of the top coaches.

UT coaches not invited to this camp.

? You are saying Buck banned UT? All satellite camps have been the more the merrier, the bigger name schools, the more the HS or 'camp' can charge for participation. I don't see a former UT alum saying no if Tn asked to join, OSU joined just last week.

Who is Dobbs behind as the 3rd beat QB in school history? Cause he's definitely behind Manning, Shuler and Clausen at minimum. Not sure he can be placed ahead of Tee either and from a production standpoint a case could be made for Ainge.

Condredge Holloway has to be in that conversation. Imagine him with modern rules. :eek:hmy:

I considered Holloway and Robinson too. Stats aren't everything but Dobbs is definitely ahead of both of them at this point. Point is, Dobbs has a long way to go to be considered a top 3 QB in this school's history. But D4H thinks Worley and Peterman were our 1st two QB's.

Stats are nothing in this case. Football was different back then. Condredge and Tony were both better QB's than Dobbs and that is nothing against Dobbs at all.

I was 8-10 years old When Holloway played. Man he was exciting to watch. They called it "razzle dazzle football".

Tony and I are the same age, so I was 18-21 years old when he played. Tony was a Heisman Trophy candidate in '85 prior to blowing his knee out.

Football was a lot meaner sport back then and these guys were not only talented, but tough as nails too. If you put either of them in today's football environment, they would absolutely dominate.

JMO of course.
