'17 TN ATH Jacoby Stevens (LSU commit)

Gaulden doesn't hold a candle to this kid athletically. He would be a huge loss if he leaves the state.

He is leaving. Can't lose something you never had. We never realistically had a chance here.

As for Gaulden, your severely undertaking him. Stevens ceiling is higher athletically but Gaulden is a stud and nobody is taking Saftey spot from him when healthy

Got dat right.

I disagree that this is the HAVE TO WIN IT ALL year. 10 games is a must. But ima say this now, Guarantano will be the best thing to happen to Butch Jones and this offense, Butch should be pitching that kid is DeShaun Watson for us, too bad those TN WR boys thinking bunk@ss Clemson is gonna be the same without DW after this year. We win the East and have to beat Bama twice or LSU. Shoop has me confident we will win the games we should have last year in 2016. Our RBs and TEs will be lethal. If Dobbs improves his accuracy and our WR fight for and hold onto the ball....it could be a special year...but those are Big IFs.

That's were Deangelo Gibbs comes into play. Really important to try and seal the deal with this kid.

ain't happening .... he is trending to Ga, and we will be lucky to hold onto any kid from the state... something is definitely shady going on in recruiting this year with just about every kid trying to get out, despite our upward trend and hype... just makes no sense... someone is in these kids ears, or the staff has made some mistakes...

0 draft picks in 2 years.

Kids want to get to the NFL more than anything and right now rival programs are beating us over the head with this fact and trying to argue we don't develop NFL players.

I know the argument is ridiculous considering we had guys return to school but 17 year old kids are into nuance.

Sad that we are missing on both Stevens and Higgins

Doesn't matter.

If Butch can't win on the field this year, he probably never will. Butch will never have a more talented and experienced team as the one he'll have this year.

Win the SEC championship and recruiting will take care of itself. Anything less and recruiting continues to tank and he'll soon be out of a job.

2016 season couldn't be more important.

Yes it does matter. But you dont get it anyway so I am not surprised at all.

We've got a great mix of talent and depth this season. The pieces are in place to make a great run in 2016. But I disagree that he will for sure never have a team more talented. We just don't know that. Who knows how the next couple years are going to play out?

In 2017 and beyond we should have an extremely talented offensive line. I imagine we'll find another super talented RB to compliment John Kelly & Fils-Aime. We have a great QB battle to look forward to next offseason. My money is on Guarantano and I think he could take us a long way. Preston, Jennings, Byrd and Callaway could be a great WR core. Somebody will have to step up at TE, but we've recruited some intriguing talent.

On defense we'll have Kahlil and Tuttle back again. Darrell Taylor, Kyle Phillips, Kongbo and an array of options along the dline. Kirkland as the alpha in the middle. With Sapp, Bates, Cortez, Gavin Bryant and Bituli as just some of the options at LB. Gaulden, Martin (maybe), Buchanan, Osborne, Moseley all back at corner. Kelly should be back. Nigel Warrior. Senior Evan Berry.

There are tons of players I didn't even name. This team is deep. There are guys in the 15 and 16 class that we aren't even thinking about that will likely emerge as solid contributors. Next year could be fun as well. The schedule may never set up as well as it seems to this year. But there are mainly just so many unknowns all across the league right now. We are so much more stable than anybody else in the east. That doesn't mean it's going to be easy or that we're a lock for anything. The window is clearly wide open. But I don't think that necessarily means that we'll immediately go back to being bad again if it doesn't become a dream season.

Recruiting ebbs and flows. It's all about individual players and finding the guys who are meant to be Vols. Clemson and Georgia are hot right now. Georgia because of the new coach effect and Clemson because they're winning big. We've been hot the last couple of years from the new coach effect. We're ready to win big now. Our staff is relentlessly looking for talent everywhere. I don't get why so many people seem to think that the staff cant do it anymore just because they missed on everybody's favorites. This 17 class hasn't even played their senior football seasons yet. This is a big country and Tennessee is a national brand. Really talented players are going to continue to emerge over the next 6-7 months. This staff is gonna find them. They have proven that since they've been here.

If kids are ignorant enough to not realize we could of easily had draft picks this last draft, and that we have draft picks for the foreseeable future, then that's pretty sad. Jmo.

No it doesn't. Because if Butch fails in 2016 his house of cards was gonna collapse anyways.

If team 120 lives up to it's potential and wins the SEC championship in 2016, we'll sign the next Tee Higgins and Jacoby Stevens in 2018.

Wishful thinking.

Dobbs, Hurd, Kamara, Barnett, JRM, and Sutton are generational talents. They're all gone after 2016 and they are not easily replaced. You're talking about 4 of the best players in program history when we talk about Dobbs, Hurd, Sutton, and Barnett. Dobbs will go down as a top 3 QB in program history. Hurd arguably a top 2 RB in program history. Barnett a top 3 DE. And Sutton a top 2 CB.

And then we're on track for another WEAK recruiting class in 2017. That means we won't have as much talent on team 121 as we did on team 120. Back to back classes rated in the 15-20 range is not winning championships.

Also if Butch fails in 2016, recruiting beyond 2017 will also tank. What will he have to sell to 2018 recruits? There's no more easily available playing time. And he'll have proven he can't coach a winner.

2016 is do or die if we want to be a perennial contender again.

Its recruiting. You can make that argument but best believe other schools are saying what I said.

All of this in separate posts on one page. Your constant statistical promos for Dobbs have been overdone and boring, but I prefer them to your current rantings.

Overreact much? Sorry, but I seem to be redundant.

3 of those 6 were three stars. Calm down, if you can, and let's chill with the hyperbole. We will be fine.

This rant at least has some merit, unlike most of his Dobbs rants.

1st- they are not once in generational talents.

2nd- you do realize how low the Dobbs, Sutton, and JRM class was rated don't you?

RECRUITING RANKINGS BY PEOPLE WHO AREN'T COACHES ARE STUPID

That's all

I suppose it could be coincidence that the teams with the best recruiting rankings are playing for championships. It did take us signing about 60 kids in 2 top 5ish classes to get to a competitive level. Recruiting rankings matter. Usually the only ones saying they don't are the ones not getting the top talent. I'd also bet recruiting rankings matter to recruits. Not only their own ranking, but top talent a lot of times wants to play alongside other top talent.

Haven't seen it on film. Neither are spectacular athletes.

Then maybe it's time to get out of your mom's basement and see some real live hs football. :) Stevens is the best hs athlete I have ever seen, and that includes Ramsey. Darkwa, etc. etc. etc. Hopefully Butch hasn't written him off yet - he is definitely worth the effort.
