'17' TN ATH Tee Higgins (Clemson commit)

Whatever you say hyperbole king. No one is whining. The thread was bumped. The question was asked. And several posters responded to what the smoke was about.

Wasn't referring to you but fans always worry about what a recruut got elsewhere is dumb. People are naive if they don't believe every Power 5 school does it are delirious. Its part of recruiting and why certain schools always get the big time 5* flops and stars over & over again no matter where they go coach.

I have no hard feelings toward this kid. I wish he would have chosen us, but can't blame him based on how Clemson's program is doing right. You gotta think if we had beaten South Carolina and Vandy, and gotten in to a big bowl, then we would have stood a better chance. We need to start winning again and won't have this problem again. Again, best of luck to Tee

I don't disagree. I wish we cheated better. The NCAA is a paper tiger at this point anyways. We apparently can't even hire an AD in a reasonable time let alone put together a solid bag man program.

agree with you 100% the reason some get away with it is the fact that they are winners and the NCAA depends on their revenue gains to function much like the UT of the 90s. People don't mind contributing to the bag when the results are present. I remember a young Albert Haynesworth rolling through campus in a shiny new Expedition as a freshman, but his granny raise him and made ends meet with very little to spare in SC. I could name more but not necessary just wanted to mk a point.

There is cheating and then there is Bama level cheating.

I agree with you overall, but Higgins backed off his commitment to UT before the season even started. Nothing changed when we were 5-0 to start the season, and nothing changed at the end of the season sitting at 9-4.

Clemson convinced him not to go to UT a long time ago.

I agree.

And I also can't blame a kid for wanting to go to college somewhere a bit further from home.

If I'd had an opportunity to go to any school in the country for free, I'd probably have left the state as well.

Granted, Tee ain't gone to Clempsum to play skool

Per Hubbs

Then there is Tee Higgins. The one that got away from Tennessee. There were stories after he made the flip on July 4th and what we can tell you is that Higgins came to campus a little over a week before his commitment and sat down with Butch Jones. He indicated to Tennessee that he had pre-taped his decision and that he was a Vol. Just three weeks prior he had named Tennessee his leader on his twitter.

Tennessee's staff woke up on the 4th and they had their tweets already typed up to congratulate him. Then he said he was All-In and the rest his history. So what happened? It's fairly easy to see that a movement was hatched after Higgins visited Clemson in late January and Tennessee couldn't ever catch up. Higgins is close to former Austin East standout Leroy Thompson, who snubbed the Vols for Penn State back in the 1980s. It's our understanding that Thompson expressed his thought process and conveyed to Higgins that he is still building back bridges that were burned when he left Knoxville over 30 years ago. In the end it was never enough to keep the receiver in Knoxville.

I think it's obvious what happened here. I also think it was an obvious troll job by him probably a plan orchastated between he, Rogers, and Johnson. At least LeRoy didn't troll his community. I'd say if football doesn't work out for him for whatever reason, he better make some contacts within the Clemson community. Doubt those bridges back to East Tennessee will be easily rebuilt.

If he felt Clemson was a better place for him then good luck, but for him sit down in Butch's office and lie to his face... it's hard to respect someone like that.

Something weird is going on in Clemson. Every time a kid commits there they act like the biggest douches. Tee did this to us. Amari talked ish too. The running back from Louisiana that got offered by Clemson at the 11th hour got him to take a visit then a week later he says he's going to "play in the real Death Valley" which is a huge slap in the face to his home state. There is also josh belk, guy who grew up a gamecock fan his whole life, takes one visit to Clemson and commits on the spot. There's also Hunter Johnson who grew up a vol fan, was committed to us, and then took a visit to Clemson. Next thing we know he's apparently on campus actively recruiting people to Clemson. There's also the creepy stuff their players do on the field as well as some disturbing stories I've heard of Watson. Dabo isn't a good guy and I really hope it all catches up to him

What are the Watson stories?

What are the Watson stories?
Friends who go there told me a few stories. Once he showed up to a speaking event for another sports team at the school intoxicated. Acted like as a$$ and thought it was funny. Other stories are not appropriate to share and are more unconfirmed. I knew someone who was actually at the speaking event so that's why I'll share that.
