'17' TN ATH Tee Higgins (Clemson commit)

Come on now.. How is being an a$$hole of a team mate/person even remotely comparable to being a murderer or rapist..

That's quite a stretch don't you think?

That's how you verify logic, take it to the extreme. If it's ONLY about on field, then it's only on field. If off the field matters, who determines what's too bad and what's not? Who decides where the line is drawn if not individual voters?

Yea, I understand. I was just trying to provide a response to those voters. If his antics were so bad, he wouldn't have been on a playoff team every other year, and that includes Buffalo and Cincinnati.

If his antics weren't so bad, he would've been on a Super Bowl WINNING team...most likely Philly.

Being a bad teammate is on the field.

Eh, not really. His being a bad teammate was not in between the lines as much as in the media, on the bench, in the locker room. Some of it was on field too, but not all of it and not the things people especially hated about him for the most part.

It's part of being a member of the team. Getting a DUI or domestic abuse charge is off the field. Being a crappy teammate is part of the game/team.

He had 9 catches for 122 yards on a leg that probably hadn't quite healed yet. Lost by 3 to the Patriots. Don't think he was the issue. The next year Philly had a rash of season ending injuries, including McNabb. Philly then shipped him out.

Yeah...I wasn't talking about THAT Super Bowl (they did everything BUT win), I mean eventually in a 5 year sit-ups free window...they would've gone back.

Do you think he deserves to be in..... ever?

Idk. It wouldn't bother me if he did but it definitely won't bother me if he doesn't either.

Lots of guys make trouble for themselves and end up getting in the HOF. Thing about TO was that he never took plays off and he always gave his all. Can't say that for a guy like Moss. I also don't recall him getting into any trouble outside of football except trying to commit suicide. But....he was no doubt a cancer and just in general is not likeable. So in some people's minds he isn't worthy of getting in and being unlikeable means less people are gonna care if he doesn't.

Fair enough. I don't think he was an immediate cancer or bad teammate everywhere he went, but if things started not going the way he wanted them to.... look out. So he wore out his welcome.

Not a great example. 99% of Steve Smith's teammates would say he was a great teammate and there is no one they'd rather go to battle with.

A lot of TO's teammates wouldn't say that.

Smitty was fiery, maybe to a detriment at times, but he always cared about the team and winning first and foremost. TO cared about TO first and foremost.

He's my favorite WR of all time personally. But punched a dude that was sitting down on the bench in the jaw. I can't stand sneak attacks. Lol

What bothers me is a guy like Anquan Boldin is seen as a future HOF guy while TO has 71 more TDs than him.

Boldin isn't to me. I could be misremembering but it seems like he has had a lot of solid seasons but only a few dominant ones. Definitely a guy I would have wanted on my team though.

I'm gonna come off as a jerk by saying this (what's new?) but I don't intend it that way.

Why do you keep saying this? Everyone knows WHY he didn't get voted in. It's common knowledge. The discussion is if that is fair.

I've come around to thinking it's fair to make him wait but let him in eventually. I guess that's how I've always felt, but I disagree with those that think he should never get in.

Because people keep responding to my posts lauding his accomplishments and banging the table to let him in. As if to say I am somehow implying that he doesn't belong, and I have never said that. Posters don't have to make a case for him in response to my posts. They'll get no argument from me.

So, to answer your question, it's more of a chicken/egg scenario. I'm only replying.

And I haven't seen any one explicitly say he doesn't belong in the HOF at any point, at least not on this board, but maybe I missed it.
