'17' TN ATH Tee Higgins (Clemson commit)

Totally agree. Just as coal miners know the risk of going a mile into the ground, football players know they are risking their health every time they step on the field. You sign the contract, you get the money, you take the risk.

Players didn't know the risks, the NFL covered CTE up for years. But don't let the truth get in the way of your rant.

Not really even a doubt that he will be good. He still sucks azz for how he handled recruitment. It will also suck azz watching him and AR go off. We have a nice WR core though and it's not the end of the world
Missing on WRs

Yea, I live and work in Oak Ridge. We're basically a suburb of Knoxville. It's really disappointing a 5 star talent so close to campus would leave us.

Yeah, we were outbid. I have been critical of Fulmer, but he was able to manage conveniences to recruits (better than most). Higgins sold out big time as I am sure our boosters were "decent"

Or, crazy thought, but maybe he wanted to go play at the hottest program in the country right now coming off of a NC and a recent track record of putting up huge offensive passing numbers and WR's in the league. Crazy I know.

So because he wasn't as good of a teammate as you would want you wouldn't vote him in. No off the field problems to really talk about either. That's flat out garbage voting by the HOF voters....

Peter King of MMQB said yesterday morning that that is exactly what has kept TO out of the HOF to this point. Like it or not, the HOF isn't solely just about putting up gaudy numbers with no respect to anything else. The perception that you were a bad locker room guy and that you may have had a negative effect on your team and possibly the outcome of games due to your selfishness and immaturity is going to be a strike against you. Especially in the eyes of the media, most of which haven't ever stepped foot on a professional football field. Football is the ultimate team sport, and in the eyes of those voters, being a good teammate matters. He'll get in eventually, but his attitude has kept him out thus far.

This is my last post in this thread because it needs to die. From everything I've heard, Higgins wanted to get out of the area and most importantly needed to, for his own good. This happens occasionally, it's not always Butch's fault. Yes, Higgins is an elite talent, but if he hung around here, the bad influences could have gotten to him. He realized that and made the best decision for him. I can respect that.

I live in Harlan Ky, there are literally thousands and thousands of miners who are crushed up, tore up or have black lung slowly killing them in Coal country and nobody gives a ish, but let Junior Seau and a few others have some problems and everybody loses their dang minds and wants to shut real football down. I guarantee you that guys like Inky aren't for the wussification of football. If you don't wanna play cause your scared..then simply don't play.

Unfortunately, outside of Appalachia nobody cares about the miners or any others with hardship in the region.

lol, wut? Ever here an interview with some of the ex players? Pretty clear the game wasn't nice to them. no need for it to be officially diagnosed. all the other injuries were also pretty clear.

they knew it was dangerous just maybe not dangerous in what way.

If Steve Smith Sr. gets in fast I know something(and he is my favorite WR). He was one of the worst teammates. Dude broke a teammates jaw at practice.

Smith would take care of business and not need half the team to do so. And the next quarterback he alleges is secretly gay or a p**** in the Super Bowl or secretly drawing up plays with the TE to exclude him, will be the first.

Locker room cancer and breaking your teammate jaw not equal to you? I mean......

Yeah those two things aren't the same.

Being a cancer is a lot worse than getting into a fight with a teammate. One is an isolated incident. The other is who you are as a teammate.

Owens is a cancer. One of the worst teammates I've ever seen.

Not a great example. 99% of Steve Smith's teammates would say he was a great teammate and there is no one they'd rather go to battle with.

A lot of TO's teammates wouldn't say that.

Smitty was fiery, maybe to a detriment at times, but he always cared about the team and winning first and foremost. TO cared about TO first and foremost.

Maybe he broke the jaw of the cancer lol. Steve def rubbed people wrong way early on. He got better with age.

TO should be in HOF. Did he have an attitude? Yep Didnhe work his butt off and win football games for teams? Absolutely. Loved watching TO. Will never forget the catch tonwin game for 49ers vs packers

As I write it reminds me of Hurd. Prima Donna attitude but was a hard worker that helped win games.

We are loaded at WR??

Too Unproven to be able to say loaded right now but there is a boatload of talent in that room than it has been in awhile. Callaway is going to be a star. Latrell and Byrd are going to kill folks on the slot with that speed. Palmer is going to be that stud that comes out of nowhere.
