'17 TN OL/DT Trey Smith (UT commit 12/6/2016)

I don't get why anyone here thinks him saying he already had his decision before the visit is good. Last week he stated he had basically changed his decision after the Ohio State visit. There is zero way I can see that as good for us. We clearly were behind before the visit and needed to change his mind.

I feel like Urban would have a better chance if there weren't two other coaching staffs in the house with Trey tomorrow as well. When you see 3 schools in one day, I'm sure it's a little more challenging to leave a major impression. We'll see I guess.

IMO this was a favor for his sister in order to keep her job. This place is going to be in full meltdown mode Tuesday night and it's going to be a looooonngggg off season

He will ruin a kid's announcement, but I wonder what makes him think he will choose Ohio St.?

Big time winning at the collegel level, one of the best coaching staffs in the entire country, a team that puts a ton of guys in the NFL, a much better chance to play for championships and playing for one of the greatest college football programs of all time. I loathe Meyer and OSU but these are legit reasons. I really hope Smith picks UT though.

He didn't quite say that. He said he had made a decision in his mind, but that he was doing some reconsidering. Ohio State had momentum, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they had taken the lead in his recruitment.

I mean not only over Tn, but over Alabama too.

The only ones who will fully meltdown are those who just automatically expect us to land Smith. I am not one of them. If he picks UT, I will be super excited. If he doesnt, I will be upset but not totally surprised. Surely wont meltdown.

Whatever his exact words were last week it wasnt good and him already knowing where he is going before our OV isn't good IMO. Ohio state bound is my pick

If he's orange blooded and willing to accept MCB's and Outback's until the NFL calls, he will pick UT. There is not one iota of proof he will make a national playoff. If he's looking for a top program that plays for NC's annually and who is a media darling with top flight coaches - it's the best fit between OSU and UA. Hope for the best and expect the worst.

Even with our lost decade we are still one of the greatest programs of all time also. OSU has a lot going for it RIGHT NOW though, and Trey and his father have always made a big deal about this being a business decision...IMO he is going tO OSU, and has been all along.

Well we certainly agree on that, but I don't think we are getting him. I think he has been planning on going somewhere else all along. And I've felt that way for awhile. But I sure hope I'm wrong on this one. I was wrong on Philips a couple of years ago, and felt the same way about his recruitment as I do Treys.

Urban and Saban are tough to overcome. I hope you're wrong, too. I won't blame you if we don't get him, though :)

In my experience, you're one jovial mf'er! :w00t:

Lol..true sometimes. I have not been wrong so far about how I predicted recruiting and the season could go really bad in the offseason however. Pretty much nailed it to this point. And that really sucks.

So Tuttle had a "huge game" vs VaTech, in part because KMac was doubled allowing Shy to beat his man one on one? Lol. You sure about that?

Tuttle had 2 assisted tackles vs the Hokies. No solo tackles, no tfls, no sacks. Pick another example.

Nb4 you pull the "you don't know, understand the nuance of playing DT and tackles/tfls/sacks aren't that important" card.

And I don't think KMac "sucks". I think he's been a bit of a disappointment thus far given his billing and hype......and I certainly don't think opposing offenses went into games vs Tennessee this year scheming to account for KMac and trying to neutralize him with consistent double teams. Barnett was the ONLY player on our defense that demanded extra planning and attention from opposing offenses.

I think it's time to move this one the the Waffle House.

Yep, with the instate talent that we have now- which we never have had- along with the weakest the SEC has been as a whole in over a decade, we should really be beginning our resurrection to the elite of college football. The question is, will TPTB continue sitting on their hands and let the lost decade have a sequel?

It's true, lot of room for improvement with the DTs. Hopefully the will get that opportunity in the offseason despite their injuries.
