They also take classes of 25 or more every single year. They're literally kicking some of those "star" players to the curb every single year.
Having the best coach in several generations tends to help, too.
Who cares? What does that have to do with success/failure in college?
Because of his insinuation that something is happening down there. They have an abnormally high percentage of busts in the NFL. Lots of times their players look a lot slower at the next level because of what is supposedly an enhanced college career, so that's what is has to do with it.
He's a good OL but he not ranked 3*'s by nearly all recruiting services for nothing. There are better ones out there on our offer/interest lists but they don't appear to have UT up there in their favorites. I like the fact this is an in-state kid as well.
He is a good looking prospect though even at 3* ranking. Could even have a slight chance at being bumped to a 4* recruit before it's over. He is strong & pretty quick for a guy his size.
Take a look at my video highlights of him in my prospects video thread to take a look at how he performs here: http://www.volnation.com/forum/showpost.php?p=13151496&postcount=405
"They really like his ceiling. Only scratching he surface as long as his knees are in good shape and I know multiple doctors have looked at his knees and they all say he's good to go.
I think it would be best to redshirt him. He's extremely athletic and he hasn't built a lot of bad tendencies since he's so new to the game. But, he still needs to get stronger and learn things. I don't think he's ready to play next year but could be sooner rather than later because of his athleticism.
Very few people are strong enough to come in and play on the OL in the SEC. He needs time to gain weight but that's fine.
My opinion on Calbert is he looks promising. He plays the game with some real physicality, wants to put people in the dirt. Athletically, he's what you want. He can play at this level.
Now, he's far from a finished product. He will have to learn footwork, about offenses in general, etc. so he's a wait and see, but someone with a nice ceiling for sure."

Sounds good, but need a new OL coach to develop him imo

Butch has signed 85 in 3 years, 28 a year and that is rounding down. Add the gray shirts and blue shirts, it approaches 100 for a team that is allowed 85 total.
As for his ranking, don't see the 61st OT making it to a 4 star but you never know. BUT, this position is the one where you put the ranking at the end of the checklist. Look for skinny ankles (I'm serious), length, strength, girth, base, height, work ethic, bend, quick feet, light feet.
All those, then his offers, then his ranking. All that to say, I think he ends up a Guard in college.![]()
