New UGA Target had eye on Gurley.
Many have had their eye on Todd Gurley while he rose to stardom playing between the hedges at the University of Georgia. Gurley was the first back chosen in the NFL Draft last month and new Georgia target knows that...
Georgia's Tracy Rocker recently spent time in Tennessee recruiting for the Dawgs and one school he stopped by was Memphis (Tenn.) Trezevant.
That is home to four-star running back Cordarrian Richardson. He is a pretty big name now that will only get bigger, but before the offers were rolling in, he was identified by Scout as one of the best in 2017.
The 2017 running back is thick, strong, explosive, and a back that can stay on the field and play in different systems. His latest offer came from Georgia and it was a "big" offer for the 5-foot-11.5, 222 pound four-star.
He had already had offers from Alabama, LSU, and Tennessee, among others, but Georgia is one he was waiting for.
Todd Gurley was a big part of that.
"I watched every game that Todd Gurley played at Georgia," said Richardson. "I love his game on the field. He really caught my attention his sophomore year.
"When I first saw him, I thought he might be a regular guy, but as I saw him throughout the season, I thought he was going to be great."
Richardson was right; Gurley turned out to be great. He was selected No. 10 by the St. Louis Rams in the NFL Draft. Richardson sees a little of Gurley in his own game.
"I somewhat compare my game to Gurley's because I am a great downhill runner and I have great speed. I think my game relates to his in those areas."
The new Bulldog target has yet to step foot on the UGA campus, but because of Gurley, he has real interest in the Dawgs. Richardson likes all schools "the same" right now, but this one really caught his attention.
Not only does one of the top 2017 running backs like how UGA used Gurley, but he likes the system the Dawgs run on offense. He hopes to visit this summer.
