'17 TN RB Ty Chandler (UT signee)

It's about time Tennessee gets some day one impact players. I have always been so pissed how other teams are able to plug and place from their depth charts and never miss a beat. I am really excited to see this offense with JG, Jennings and Malone, with Byrd in the slot, improved offensive line with Smith, and Kelly and Chandler in the backfield.

i did not see one single play where his team lined up in a shot gun and/or ran a read option.

I hope he is good when he's dancing at the line of scrimmage wondering if he's going to get the ball or not.

He good. That's all that you need to know.

Is Chandler 100% to UT? I've heard rumors he is looking at Bama. Hope they are wrong.

Wow, he has a elite combination of speed, power, and balance. He will be a household name in the SEC before his time here is done barring injuries, laziness, or stupdity.

He doesn't play for Bama. So even tho he'll be the best back in the SEC, he'll continually be a 3rd trader behind Bama and GA's running backs. Similar to Barnett

Same thing with Hurd in high school. Do not know how hard it is to adapt to the spread, but I feel that Hurd never really adapted.

I imagine that with guarantano the offense can be different than with dobbs. Guartano is more of a passer than Dobbs was so it wouldn't surprise me to see different packages than shotgun every snap

Never really adapted, but was like 80 yards from breaking the ALL TIME rushing yards record at UT, and dude rushed for over 1,000 yards last year. How can you make such an asinine comment?

Too bad Hurd pissed it all away by quitting on the coaches and teammates. That's not really something to be proud of.

Never said that Hurd was not a great back but he was a greater back with a full back in front of him. Look at the video of him in the bowl game last year. Look at his high school videos. It would be obvious to anyone who knows anything about running backs.

And stop jumping to conclusions.

440 yards from catching Henry. Once a certainty. By halftime of the USC game, I doubt he'd have reached that...even if he had stayed.

I still think Byrd needs to be at corner. But I agree with you other than that. Could be very explosive next year!

Came to post the same thing.

How well will he be able to run out of the gun?

This is a legitimate concern here when it comes to Chandler's freshman year, IMO.

Chandler is talented enough to make an impact for us during his time here. And he seems to have a much better attitude and work ethic than Hurd. So I don't doubt that he can thrive in this scheme eventually.

But there will likely be an adjustment period for him due to scheme change (in addition to the adjustment period all freshman make to level of play and balancing what is basically a full time job with classes and newfound freedom).

I wish he could EE and spend the next 7-8 months making that adjustment and improve his chances to excel sooner rather than later.
