'17 TN RB Ty Chandler (UT signee)

If Kelly can do it Chandler can do it.

Hurd could do it until he decided to quit trying.

If you are a good running back you are a good running back. This "system fit" crap is vastly overstated.

Not questioning whether he can. Just how quickly he'll adjust. Plenty of good RBs take s year or two to hit their stride. Especially if they're going into a vastly different system.

If you don't think it will take some time to adjust and he'll hit the ground running from week one of camp, you're being overly optimistic.

I wonder if the FSU message boards are discussing whether Akers can run without taking a direct snap. I kinda doubt it.

Relevant observation to the attitudes of fans.

What do fan attitudes have to do with the amount of time it will take a true freshman RB to adapt to a completely new scheme at a higher level of play? Nada

If you really want to talk about FSU and Akers though, him enrolling early and going through spring ball will surely help with his adjustment to a pro style running scheme from being a wildcat zone read QB.

I wish Chandler had the same leg up.

It's one of the easiest positions for talented guys to contribute right away. He should be fine.

.

My observation was not intended to be about transition time. It was clearly to wonder if another fan base was spun up over their QB turned RB like this one is over a far simpler transition. I'm sure both backs will be just fine.

Good points, but if he's got good vision and instincts he should be able to transition from pro style to zone read quickly. Also, you can do direct non-zone-read hand-offs from the pistol or shotgun. Bama does that when Scarborough is in at RB, but does more zone-read running plays with Harris and Jacobs.

Feel like CFA is pretty undervalued on this board. Impressive offer list coming out, great program, has all the tools.

I was pretty impressed by his high school highlight.

I'm looking forward to seeing him at the army game. He'll be there for the first time next to the other top backs, including Akers, and that will tell us how good he is. Also will tell evaluators. Who knows, if he is as good as we believe he is, he may get a bump

He's much better than some on here give him credit for. He's got some serious speed, just needs an offseason in the weight room.

Honestly think it was a bit of an adjustment this year going from what he ran in high school to UTs system. Look for him to make some serious noise next year. Very hard worker.

Can't say for sure until we see how he comes along in the spring, but it wouldn't surprise me if CFA holds onto the backup RB spot a lot longer than most around here think in 2017.

He's just a little small at this point.

I would imagine he's close to 190. Needs work, but getting there.

Very much so. Very explosive player and shows pretty good balance for a guy that was smaller in high school.

Not sure how big he is now, but I absolutely think he can be very effective.

Impossible. If a player isn't a star in their freshman year they're likely a wasted scholly.
