'17 TN WR Princeton Fant (UT commit 6/18/16)

Coach who watched the game said he did nothing defensively to make a difference either just passing along a word. This was also put in the write up on te game too. And on the other post of my agenda really I have zero agendas against a kid but this proving what I said last yr and its consistent with what I sawin the Smyrna gm last yr too.

Gray is missing something between the ears.

People i know "close" to the team say they can't wait for him to graduate.

Butch still wants him. Gray should be a lot better than he is...

As long as it proves what you spout that should be all that we care about. :good!:

Not saying tha either but I give credit where its due regardlessof where a kid plays or trains. I give kids a chance to prove me wrong ala Bituli. I talk to coaches in Power 5 schools etc and in Middle school I thought he was real, but now I just don't see that same talent. The kid is built well and looks to part but when the light are on it just ain't there to this point imo. I am not my opinion is the end all be all but to this point I've been correct.

Heard this too, but I'm only speaking of the on field not him as a person. I've been around guys in the 90s who i thought were empty between the ears and when the lights cm on they were very visible whether it was high school, college, or on Sunday.

I've also seen guys reach amazing potential with great coaching. We have that big time on the defensive side of the ball.

Danny Spradlin was possibly the dumbest person I've ever known and he was a good player. Some people you can just lineup and say go get the ball.

Good news if he's a hot head. I like having guys that are not afraid to talk and walk on the edge of unsportsmanlike conduct. I want more jabbering after plays and towards opponents benches to the point where the reff has to warn them a few times but never gets a flag.

I would rather have guys that shut their mouths and do their jobs.. You know, let your 'game' do your talking for you and act like you've actually done this before..

I don't know how intelligent the kid is, but I question his motivation for playing football.

Gualden, Jaylen RM, Jennings where all unstoppable Mid- State prosepcts and none of them were ranked as high as Maliek.

He should be averaging 10 tkls a game.
And he should be featured on offense as well.

Gray needs to play DE for LaVergne. His instincts aren't there for LB. Like I said a while agi, he reminds of Chris Donald.

At the end of the day Gray has SEC athleticism and a key instate figure in a time where we needed something good to happen in state recruiting wise. Worth the take IMO regardless of what is said about his motor etc. he also will play Saftey not LB or WR here.

This. Elite athletes make plays on both sides of the ball in high school regardless of scheme, etc.

I was at the game up until half way through the 3rd. The times they used Gray to blitz he was terrible, couldn't get off a block.(of course we are recruiting him to play safety so I doubt he's really gonna have to fight a lot of blocks from offensive guards.) We he was in coverage he looked ok. Smyrna really didn't throw much at all but Gray seemed to be around the ball when he wasn't in on a tackle. The part that bothered me was he seemed to be a bit of a hot head. He could've had a lot of personal fouls called on him in that game if the refs weren't terrible. I'm sure that's just a maturity thing though so not too worried about it.

It was a bit chippy especially in the 2nd qtr, it slowed down as the game went along. I did not see anything that made me think he is a 4 star athlete, he had that one missed tackle on the Lavergne sideline where that receiver put a little move on him and he went sliding into the Lavergne coaches/players standing on the sideline.

After one bad game (the first game of the season).....now he's not worthy of his ranking!!? You guys kill me.

exactly....and if we hadnt of gotten him they would be crying about not landing in state products. Then you got the NPA guy who has an agenda for anyone who is not theirs. Hes telling us coaches evaluate too much off shorts and t shirts but thats all they do over there. But obviously thats not all Butch and them do. damn, just lay off the kid

He's not as good as he should be. He's just not.
However, he has the physical ability to get better. A lot better.

That's what Butch sees.

So your saying CBJ knows a 3* when he sees one and doesn't need the recruiting "experts" evaluations?

I usually hang in the shadows and read comments here.

Some of you people are the most down trodden, negative types that I avoid in the real world.

If you would just try to live in a positive mind set and look for improvement in those around you and yourself there's a chance you could improve your own lot.

I'm not sure you would actually own up to this but, just saying...
