'17 VA DT Jordan Williams (Clemson commit)

Per P Fort

Williams told me tonight he's still trying to make it to campus in July which I think would help Tennessee. If not, I wonder what his plans are.

I think the Vols could land a couple of guys between now and the start of the season, but they need to leave some room to let some other guys play out, because if they win and are impressive, kids will want to visit and want in.

Jordan Williams has made up his mind about where he will spend his college career, but there's one more visit on tap before he publicly announces his decision in August....The visit will be to Clemson's All In Cookout

Good chance Clemson is not the choice at this point unless there is some other reason for him holding the announcement until after the visit.

i took that as he is prob decided on UT but will still visit Clemson one last time

I just don't get it. Why visit if you know where you're going? I'm not looking at it as a Vol fan, just in general. If I have decided on a school why would I want to pay money out of my pocket or my parents pocket to visit a school and to put in a fake front and act like I'm interested when I'm not? I've just never understood the mindset with these situations.

Williams said he has already decided. Clemson is a courtesy visit. He's a Vol.

To avoid post purchase dissonance...i don't blame him a bit. Better now than after he has committed.

I think Gibbs might want a seat in that boat too :)

Hate to say it but this quote from Fort screams Clemson.

Basically saying him visiting in July would go a long way and we all know that he has one July visit set in stone (Clemson) and he's non-committal about coming here again.

If we can't convince him to come back this month this one will be another Clemson win.

Y'all have this backwards, I think right now Clemson is in the catbird seat and he sees the visit to Clemson as him getting another chance to bond with his future teammates and coaches.

TN is fighting to get him back on campus to give ourselves a shot here, that is how I've taken the recent news from Clemson and Fortenberry.

I thinks he's had his mind made up for a while that he wants to be a Vol. He's just visiting Clemson for fun or telling Dabo in person that he's going elsewhere which would be a classy thing to do. Landing Crosby has helped us big time in William's recruitment.

Disagree. The Cookout is Clemson's equivalent to Orange Carpet Day. I don't think you visit for that event unless you are slightly interested, and we've known that he has liked Clemson for a while. If he visits Clemson last, and it's the Cookout, I think he is leaning Clemson. Like Fortenberry stated, if he visits UT again in July, that could change things, but again, the only visit he has scheduled at this time in Clemson in July for the Cookout.

You must have read a different quote. The plan was for him to come back to campus in July, just have to schedule a time since he hasn't scheduled one. Like another poster said, Williams and Crosby are tight.

If you read the Clemson article it harps on him calling the team next week to let them know he will be committing. He also puts emphasis on letting that team know that Clemson will be his last visit before he shuts everything down. Why would he call Clemson to tell them that Clemson would be his last visit? The wording says it all in my opinion but we will see.

If he tells the UT staff that he will be a Vol, I would hope that the coaching staff tries to talk him out of visiting Clemson for the Cookout. As I stated previously, that is a big recruiting weekend for them.
