Trey Smith isn't showing up 50 lbs out of shape like Kahlil.
I was more impressed with him at the Under Armor All-American game this year than I was with Kahlil at the Army All-American two year ago. He looks ready to play right now.
In fact he looks better than Robertson and Weisman already. And they started at guard for us last year.
I don't recall ever seeing him blown off the ball one time. He did what he was supposed to do.
DTs are not stat machines.
I just feel he was better the previous year...perhaps the slim down and lack of solid strength coach influenced his play, I'll go back and look but creating some penetration is key and he didn't do that nearly enough for a former 5 star recruit, his impact should be felt...he's underachieving to this point
another thing is his younger brother has not been offered by UT up to this point. Not having a good S&C coach has cost UT in several different ways. I argue that we, (UT), got blown off the line of scrimmage far more than we beat our opponents on the LOS. I also think it played a great deal in having so many injuries and also it had an impact on Jalen Hurd. I think he felt certain plays had little chance of a positive outcome. A good HC should have noticed this "mistake" at the Appy St. game,IMO. KMac ought to "see the light" and grow into the leader many feel he can be. With the uncertainty surrounding Tuttle UT has to improve along the DL to even be competitive in the SEC in 2017. :twocents:His problem was missing his entire SR of HS football. KMac should be considered a bust at this point.

A sophomore lineman is a bust? Really? This is our problem. We have relied on freshmen and sophomores in the line so much that we forget winning teams develop these guys and they show out as juniors and seniors.
KMac is not a bust. Run D is better when he is in and he commands a double team a lot.
Gonna bet that CBJ definitely learned that lesson, especially considering that he hired an excellent hard-nosed and demanding S&C coach...
