Yep. Unless Smith is the best option at RT or RG, we shouldn't be playing any freshman OL. He may be an exception, but well see

I think that is how the starting five will look for September 4 in Atlanta. Pending injuries. Thing about it is though, Boulware, Kendrick, Johnson, Tatum and others will be hungry for snaps too so those five listed above better be working and getting better. Heck, Shannon Reid may try and play both ways and take one of their spots! :eek:lol:

If they approve the suggested rule change for redshirts, we might get to see some of these guys get live action without burning their redshirt.

It's a start. I prefer just giving a kid 5 years of eligibility. All the good ones leave after 3-4 years anyhow.

I guess if you start when you are 18 you can play 5 in the new Pacific Pro league.

Being from WV I can tell you West Virginia football is very underrated and very underrecruited. They aren't going to have a ton of D1 players because there is only about 110 schools in the state, and only about 20 schools with over 1k enrollment. But AAA (largest division), particularly in the Mountain State Athletic Conference from Huntington to Charleston, is good football. I can think of 9 kids in that conference that have P5 offers. The area is starting to be heavily recruited and we may have a leg up on several other players in the area. The kids he beat out for "lineman of the year" are committed to North Carolina and LSU.

He is a redshirt IMO and has some things to improve on. Needs to come out a little lower. Has only been a lineman for 2 years. Was a fullback, then a TE but just kept growing. He is athletic even by SEC Oline standards. Not a lot of linemen that can do a windmill. With that said he is a stud. One of the pictures on 247 not long ago showed him pancaking a 4 Star Alabama commit at the Adidas Camp in Atlanta. Not only did he pancake him, but then he held him down by putting his forearm across his throat lol. He went from having 1 offer from Marshall to having offers from everyone from Oregon to Florida Sate in a week.
We've also offered his Soph teammate that may end being better then him.

Watching his first media session, I will say he stuck out as very well spoken. Honestly, all of the guys seem to be pretty comfortable in front of the media.

If Richmond is starting we're in trouble. Kendrick is still much better and will start ahead of him. Also Trey Smith is too talented to not immediately play. He'll start at RG or RT.

Most realistic starting line left to right imo is: Richmond, Robertson, Thomas, Jones, Kendrick.

Backup imo is: Kendrick, Smith, Jones, Boulware, Hall.

I can see that too. Hall is good when healthy. The great thing is that the competition should help everyone get better. We finally have enough quality OL to have a true discussion of who will start!
