'18 CA QB Adrian Martinez

Wtf people! OU offers and half of you guys are jumping off ledges. The Dooley days are 4+ years removed and our program is at least equal to OU now. Buck up and have some freaking pride.

Yeah... That's not at all what anyone is saying. If you actually read the thread, you'd see that we are discussing back up plans in case it doesn't work out.

Maybe you should reread it. What I read was mostly positive posts up until a poster noted that OU offered and since that point many posters have assumed he's not coming. This is culminated in Darth's post about praying that Penix works out and we sign a high level QB in '19. Please enlighten me as to where I am reading the the thread incorrectly.

My post... is simply addressing the notion that many still suffer from a sense that we can't go toe to toe with big programs in recruiting because of the dark years we have recently left behind. I would include you in that group btw.

Edit: btw praying penix works out and hoping to sign a stud QB next year is not a very optimistic or aggressive back up plan.

Isn't it embarrassing?

It is an inferiority complex that has flourished amongst Tennessee Fans for the last 10 years. So many now expect that everything will go wrong for us and that there is nothing we can do but accept it.

That and there are some posters that simply thrive on being negative.

You're the one who sounds like he's jumping off a ledge, dude.

I was just replying to what our plan B is. Didn't realize that's considered thoughtcrime around here 🙄

It's fine. I just don't see any reason to be more concerned tonight than we were last night. I'm sure there is a plan b in place that's a bit more effective than giving up and waiting til next year though.

Your post was just whining about somebody considering the possibility that something won't turn out sunshine and daisies. I never said anything about us being doomed or not getting Martinez. Just about our options if things don't work out. Recruiting is full of these hypotheticals and that's part of the fun of following it. If you can't handle that then pop a few xanax and then an extra 7-8 more for good measure.

And sorry if my backup plan doesn't meet your standards for optimism or aggression, but unless we manage to get back in on and Emory Jones or Justin Fields, it doesn't look like we're going to land a top QB this cycle.

Is that the end of the world? No. I'm not saying it is (though you seem to be the type who will try to construe anything less than rainbows-bursting-from-buttholes optimism as overwhelming negativity). Just thinking about the things as they stand with the Vols and their QB board right now. Penix has some good upside, but some question marks. If we don't get Martinez, we really need him to work out. There's a big drop off in talent after Penix and Martinez among the QBs currently considering UT. That's just what it is right now.

What would meet your optimism and aggression standards for a backup plan, btw?

Bravo. Yes.

Umm if I can recall , I said that way before Hubbs podcast or whatever he said about OU . And I don't even listen to Hubbs podcast actually .

I am waving my arms in the air like I don't even care. Because I don't. Your deer much more concerned about being right than you do about him actually coming here and helping our program.
