'18 CA QB Adrian Martinez

Honestly, after some of the trash guys, on a personal level, that have been brought in and accepted at OU as if they were model citizens, if I were a recruit I would never consider them no matter how much on the field success they have.

It shows a tremendous lack of integrity throughout the entire program for them to support players who have acted the way DGB, Mixon, and Westbrook have. From the head Coach all the way to the top of the administration.

What are you talking about? Stoops only recruits guys with the highest of moral and ethical standards.

Tennessee offensive coordinator Larry Scott was in Fresno, Calif., on Monday to check on Martinez following QBs coach Mike Canales' evaluation visit on Friday, so the Vols have been to his school twice in the past five days.

Siap from Callahan

Well then, if Martinez decides to go elsewhere, it isn't the lack of effort by our coaching staff. Glad to see they're making him the #1 priority for this class.

17 year old kids don't care about the behavior of kids at a program. Especially if those kids are still getting drafted and cashing a check in spite of their misdeeds. .

Don't be silly. Many do, and those who don't, let them go to thug U.

All we heard last year was how the lawsuit hurt us. If a player doesn't care about the culture and the class of the program and the people around it, I don't want them.

1) What does whether or not YOU want them have to do with anything?
2) What specific player can you prove the lawsuit hurt with? Maybe we just had a poor year recruiting.
3) Players are lining up to play for Meyer, Stoops despite numerous instances of them recruiting and keeping bad characters.
4) "That "Thug U" that you mentioned has the current number 1 class despite almost getting the death penalty 3 years ago and having a coach with 40+ arrests at UGA.

If you don't understand these things then ask yourself who's "being silly".

Not only in OSU as easy place to recruit... He has turn them into a bigger NFL factory than before

What difference does what I want make? None if it is just me, but there are a lot of fans like me, and enough make a big difference,

I apparently have higher standards with the people I choose to association myself with than you do, including the teams I support. If accepting criminal behavior is the price of a top recruiting class, then no thanks.

40 arrests? Have mercy.

Would you allow your kid to go there?

Do you think Penn State should be happy with their child molesting assistance coach because he helped them win a game or two? Do you think Joe Mixon slugging girls is okay because he is a tenth faster in the 40 than some other player? If so, you need some perspective in life. If not, you agree with me and the only discussion to have is how much it matters.

Regarding last year and the lawsuit, I can't tell you what made kids decide what they decided, but I read often in the media and from dozens of posters on this site how bad it was for recruiting. The actual influence on an individual player is debatable, but the fact that it was presented as a hindrance is not.

Why are you commenting on my standards? I never one time said this was acceptable. It's just the nature of the game. If I had my way Urban Meyer would be in the NFL, as I don't think he's any kind of role model. I think you might want to go re-read my posts. My perspective on life is just fine thanks.

Kids were lining up to play for Fulmer when we had players in trouble. Not much of a difference. Win and they will come.

Exactly what I said in all three of my posts. That the bottom line was winning and money. That I don't think it's right but the nature of the game. Not sure why everyone wants to argue with me.

So you don't think lack of discipline and the poor image contributed to Fulmer's firing?

They were mere justifications. Fulmer was fired for having two losing seasons out of four years and seemingly having lost his recruiting touch. Everything else just helped pile on to that fact.

That can't be it. They were lined up to come here just two posts ago. And player problema had nothing to do with Fulmer's ability to recruit, right? Just lost his mojo and no one knows why.

I'm dropping out of this. Facts don't matter on this site anyway, and folks just make up what they need. Vol fans are as dirty as anyone and don't hold players to any sort of standards. I'm with ya now.

The recruiting staff the last few years was awful and the chemistry was really bad as well. Any time a good recruiter would come along and get a lot of attention in the media, it would cause the older guys on staff who were no longer pulling their weight in recruiting to get upset and attempt to run him off. The way the whole Trooper thing went down after Cut got the Duke job made Phil look really bad, first promoting him to OC, then after some of his buddies on staff got mad about it, he back-tracked. That was the beginning of the end for sure.

To somewhat add to this: you can say what you will about Butch and co.'s success but it's not because of a lack of effort on their part to make our program better. You may have mixed feelings about how successful they have been but at least they aren't just standing around collecting their paychecks.

Agreed. At this point, it is not about lak of effort if we miss on a player. It is because we are still trying to rebuild our reputation for putting players in the NFL. Last weeks draft results was a great start. Hopefully it will continue next year and the year after. When we can take that to a recruit, they are more apt to listen and believe when they see the facts.

They were lining up to play when we were winning under Fulmer. When he lost 17 games in 4 years, recruiting suffered. Pretty simple. Fulmer got a little complacent in the recruiting world and suffered the consequences of Alabama, LSU, Auburn, Florida, and Georgia passing Tennessee up.

Wins and losses trump all. Everything else is just details. Contributing factors? Sure. But the bottom line is wins and losses.

No. Losing seasons in two of his last 4 years was the main reason, plus a massive dropoff in recruiting had to have been a factor as well.

True....and he was honestly a victim of his own success. He set the bar really high in the late 90s that was hard to sustain. Losing the 2001 SECCG was a turning point, had PF won, would have played for another NC after beating Fla in the swamp. Program changed after that and the biggest cancer I've ever seen on a team once the fall began, Kelly Washington, only sped the process up.
