This kid looks good. He looks like a young Brandon Marshall. Maybe not quite as tall, but he catches everything with his hands out front, highpoints beautifully and doesnt run out of bounds. He also uses patience in setting up his burst. He looks good. The QB looks good also.

Anyhow, I know it feels like we need a 4 or 5 star guy around here for them to pan out, but if these guys develop players, then they will pan out. If they don't teach them and motivate them, then these coaches won't work out either. This kid says he benches 230 and squats 350. That is very good for a tall, skinny receiver type coming out of high school. That means he has been working at being a good player and putting extra time in the gym.

Kid looks alright to me. One thing is for sure, he bailed his QB out a lot just in those highlites. According to the report he was his team's 3rd option, which in the context of his really bad Sophmore year injury, and subsequent little used Junior year makes sense. He made a lot of big tough catches for a 3rd option, that is for sure.

Several things I like about this offer!

1.) The kid is (6'3, 200) who knows staff might like him as an athlete who could bulk-up to be a TE or even LB?

2.) Hopeful it gets our foot in the door to Bishop Gorman for the future.

Jordan Miller yes, but he already had offers from at least 2 P5 programs (Virginia and GT)

Right, that guy. He was unranked on rivals when we offered and only a 2 star on 247. Now he's 3 star on both. He was committed to Georgia Southern when we offered which was right after Virginia and Louisiana-Lafayette offered. His thread is almost a carbon copy of this thread. Hahaha. It's like people are just copy and pasting posts from his thread into here. Like I said Jordan young is the most extreme example but Jordan Miller is a similar example. And Maybe Tillman is too. And if he is a wait til after NSD guy then it's not like he'll be taking a spot away from anybody so IMO it's worth taking a chance if we end up having room.

Getting a foothold at Bishop Gorman would be huge.

Watching his HUDL makes me wonder about only one aspect of this kid's being recruited: How'd he get missed by so many so-called recruiting gurus. Ty Helton would have a lot of fun developing this kid to play on Sundays. I'd say this is a strong swing at a solid second choice if none of those 4* and 5* wonders don't sign. No doubt, CJP and crew are doing their homework; locating some superb "sleepers" in this 2018 class. For fluffy tough-guy, et al, who're dirtying up this thread by second-guessing the experts. Why don't YOU stfu!

Yeah, you’re right. Dumb of anyone to question a low ranked kid who plays at a well known school visited by tons of scouts. There’s no chance his rating/lack of offers is because of the 90% of plays not included in a HUDL highlight reel. Every kid is an undiscovered gem.

Amirite?

Dang in explaining is under radar recruiting this kid told 247 he grew 3 inches and gained 30lbs between end of Jr yr and beg of sr yr. 1st yr as starter

I don’t get payed the big bucks but I wouldn’t reach if I were in their shoes. They get a mulligan in 2018. Seems wise to hold sholiies for 2019 and go big.

But I trust the coaches.

Does no good to hold scholarships. You don’t get more as a result the next class.

But25×4=100. We only get 85 scholarships. If ya don't like 25 kids, save the spot for another year.

There will be attrition every yr so you take what you can when you have chance. I get the feeling you will see a few guys get purged this spring. He will weed out guys that don't fit real quick after spring practice. He did it at UGA on defense basically got rid of the entire secondary because they didn't fit and started a bunch of young guys that hurt yr 1 but helped him the next and helped Kirby when he took over. He kicked Matthews and wiggins to the curb because their attitudes

just the other week you were trashing Youngs ability when they offered. He was a 92 a week later. You really should quit. Kids fall through the cracks all the time and this staff is really good. Give it a rest.

I wasn’t trashing him. I was skeptical of the offer. I conceded I was wrong.

But not every low ranked kid with sparse offers is a “hidden gem” that no one unearthed until us. And that’s what everyone suggests whenever we offer a barely three star. It’s ridiculous.

I mean this kid played at a well visited school, with one of the top rated dual threat QBs out there. Plenty of people have seen their game film.

Still sparse offers. But VN film watchers break down 20 highlights on a HUDL and hey, he’s Brandon Marshall.

Uh.... okay

You know thats a good question how do kids go unnoticed? Look at Young leading that state of Georgia at the wr psoition stat wise nut being unnoticed. Honestly with the camps that go on and the recruiting services where they are at..i truly believe Coaches don't truly watch games. They rely on services to give them the game film they need. Ive been to a few games coaches are at...they get on the sideline sometime mid 1st or 3rd quarter and leave at half. Then at that they are down towards an endzone chatting away with whover has been designated as the host. I like Tillmans measurables, i like how he goes after the ball. I would say hes a take imo

This and every other post trying to explain this kids offer sounds just like the BS we saw in every Butch recruit that was low ranked.

Quit trying to justify something that isn’t there. This kid is a reach and you can’t compare him to Young. Young is at a no name school with coaches who appear clueless on how to market their kids. Tillman is at a TOP TEN (ranked 13 to end the year) high school in the country.

I’m not gonna argue about it. All I’m saying is it’s one thing if a kid comes from a podunk bad football program that gets little exposure and we find someone that stands out.

It’s another thing altogether when a kid plays at a highly visible school and it’s 2 days from signing day and his offer list and ranking is suspect.

I’m not being overly negative. I trust this staff. But I’m being realistic. If this kid, or the safety we offered the other day are takes, then it’s because we whiffed on a lot of people and we still have to fill out a class.

Go Vols.

I would agree with your last sentence. I think we have to have missed on a lot to take this guy. However, I also don't think that this staff seems like they're going to offer just anyone. I could be wrong, but I have faith enough right now to think that if our staff feels like these guys are worth an offer, I can get excited about them coming to UT.

That being said, this could be an offer just to get an in with an elite school. I'm a long way from being any kind of talent evaluator, but this kid looks big and strong. If we end up with him on the team, I'm ok with it.

“If we aren’t recruiting the same kids as Alabama, we’re doing something wrong”

Heck anyone in the SEC....nope.....Big Ten.....PAC 12...... Bueller....Bueller

That’s why God created four years of eligibility. We’re in no danger of being inundated after this upcoming season.
