If someone does not get in, then would that adjust those numbers? If we have academic non-qualifiers from this class, then those do not count against the 25, correct?

If one or neither makes it in, it doesn’t count against next years numbers...academic reasons would be irrelevant. Any SIGNEES academic non-qualifying would of course count against this season...which is of no matter since backcounting isn’t allowed anymore.

We absolutely have enough talent to beat WVU, ETSU, UTEP, UF, USC, Charlotte, Mizzou, UK and Vandy. Might not win them all but 7/9 isn’t crazy talk.

We should win all those games. The O-line will be much better but the D-line scares me more than anything. I can deal with the LBs and DBs. But the D-line scares me.

I also don’t expect a new starter at QB. JG will probably look great with an offensive coach with a mind and actual passing concepts.

I’m March we might. Let’s see how it plays out this fall.

If it is coaching which it has to be... Then we should at least be an average line.

I think the constant switching of positions on OL was very dumb on BJ's part. It's hard for players to form any continuity and chemistry like that as a whole.

we have the most embarrassing OL in the SEC also.

Sure, when you have an inept staff that either can’t or refused to recognize his own teams weaknesses and continued to put them in compromising position 🤷🏾*♂️

The last staff did nothing to help those guys out. And did so game after game. They were the embarrassment, not the ones playing

Wells and Mahoney are the worst two OL coaches I’ve heard about teaching wise.

Wrong. We have plenty of talent and much better coaches. These 4 or 5 win predictions are going to be way off this fall. 7-5 at worst. Pruitt’s going to show us all just how much talent was wasted.

Exactly. I believe we will be in the mix of 7-9 regular season wins. To hone it down i think we will be 8-4.

To get elite players, we need to show we can compete. To compete, we need to fill holes. It's a building process. If Pruitt shows he can win here, we'll start turning the heads of better talent, but until then, you take anyone that can get on the field and contribute.

Anyone in the DLine stand out to you?

It is crazy talk but go ahead and enjoy it. I can see only sure wins vs ET, UTEP, Charlotte. Wvu, Usc, Mizzou and Vandy all have better teams returning with experienced and good/very good Qbs. Florida is Florida. I'd advise everyone to consider this season 0 for Pruitt. Unless he has complete mental meltdowns in last 2 minutes like Jones did, leave him be for a couple yrs.

Idk it’s hard to tell how much of our poor performance last year was lack of talent and how much was a combination of poor coaching and the toxic environment of a coach who everybody knew by week 4 was likely to be fired.

I think Missouri and USCe will be tough games. USCe I don’t think has too much of a talent edge, but we have them on the road after a killer stretch in our schedule. Mizzou returns a lot offensively, but they’ve been terrible on defense for a while now and we have them at home coming off Charlotte and Kentucky at home. So I think that’s not a bad draw for us schedule wise. It could be a toss up depending on how things have come together for us at that point.

UF was basically just as bad as we were last year and we have them at home after two cupcake tune up games. I think that one is a toss up.

Vandy returns a better QB than us (at least on paper), but they aren’t bringing anything special into 2018. Pruitt blanked them last year when he faced them. That’s a game we should win.

The way I see it, we start off the season with one game that is a likely loss (more because of coaching stability and a good returning QB than overall talent), then have two given wins. Then one toss up followed by 3 probable losses. A game we’ll likely lose, but against a team that isn’t much more talented than we are, then another cupcake win, UK (who we should beat, given we almost did on the road with our toxic situation last year), a toss up at Mizzou, and a should win against Vandy.

So basically we’ve got 5 games we should win (ETSU, UTEP, Charlotte, UK, Vandy), 2 toss ups (UF and Mizzou), 2 likely losses against teams who aren’t THAT much more talented than we are (USCe and WVU) and 3 probable losses (UGA, Auburn, Bama).

IMO, if Pruitt can’t find a way to squeak 6 wins out of that schedule, he’s not gonna find much success here. There are 9 winnable games on our schedule, of which 5 are basically gimmes. If he can’t squeak out 1/4 of the other games, then it doesn’t bode well for his future as our HC.

I’m thinking we’re gonna handle WVU. I don’t see why everyone’s scared of them. Their defense is absolutely horrible. 106 ranking in total defense, 103 in rush defense last year. With a fully healthy roster, improved defense and a new power rushing offense that isn’t on film, we just have to give them a steady dose of Chandler, Jordan and London and keep their offense off the field. Then get a few stops on our end. We’ll have a decent crowd advantage in Charlotte as well, I’d imagine.

As for the SEC schedule, I’m less confident. We should beat Mizzou and Vandy in close contests. We’ll beat the breaks off UK. SC and UF are toss ups. Auburn is inconsistent from year to year, but that’s probably an L. I’m feeling 7-5 or 8-4.

We already have two players from the 2018 class blueshirting...Norwood and Davis. Chryst and London took the last two spots available 22nd and 23rd which was the number of our class after Wiggins and a blueshirt from last season. We’re down to 23 next class if both Norwood and Davis report...every graduate transfer knocks that number down further.

Grad transfers only count against the 85...
Quay Picou left, I expect more transfers and attrition by Summer.

I actually think WVU is a winnable game. They’re a very flawed team. However, I think Holgerson going into his 8th year there vs Pruitt going into his first year both as a HC and at Tennessee will be the difference.

If we do manage to win that game, then a 4-0 start is likely, IMO. Given that the UGA, AU, UA, USCE stretch will be so difficult, that would be a HUGE start to the Pruitt era. Best case scenario IMO.

Because of poor development and poor play calling, we lost to UF, USC, and UK. Yet, one play wins all of those games.

We do lose a couple of contributors, but we have the talent to win those games with better coaching. I also recall WV losing some key players. It's not unreasonable to think we can win 6+ games. This roster is much better than what Jones inherited, and West Virginia is no Oregon.

General consensus is that they count toward a class.

I know that has come into debate this year but up until now I believe it was the general consensus that Grad Transfers did not count toward a class. I'm gonna let JP worry about it and just enjoy the ride for my part.
