When new coach Jeremy Pruitt and his staff came in, they informed Litaker's coaches and guardians of the concern over his injury, but offered to honor his scholarship offer at the school. Now, four months removed from surgery, Litaker is on track for a full recovery and is eager to find his next football home, even though it won't be the University of Tennessee.
"I want to thank the coaches for giving me the chance to get my education at Tennessee," Litaker said. "But I feel great now physically and I know I can play at high level in college and I'm going to find a place that's right for me."
If anyone knows him tell him to take the medical. Im still in my 40s and about to have knee replacement from playing on a bum knee in college.
Young man, get your education paid for and protect your health. Two ACLs already. Hes never going to hold up to the college game.
I know its hard to step away at that age but I wish everyday I wold have.
Thats the only thing on Volnation that really pisses me off. When people get on here and say this kid or that is garbage and shouldnt be on the field. 90% of you have no idea how much these kids are sacrificing their bodies to be out there. While you guys are enjoying your 40-50-60s most of these kids will be dealing with arthritis and replacement surgeries.
Hell im on medication for a form of PTSD from football. The Dr says I had so many concussions its a form of PTSD.
I loved the game and I loved my time on the field but sometimes youve got to know when to step away and protect your health.
This is definitely the wrong spot for you to preach on a soap box. Medical technology has advanced significantly in the last 20 years, and guys go on to have productive careers even after multiple knee injuries. He may never reach the NFL, but if he wants to have a career in football (coaching, training, etc.), playing for a D1 program is still the best thing to have on a resume. I wish the kid good luck and hope he doesn't give up on his goals at the age of 18.
Preaching on a soap box, are you ****ting me? Im concerned for the kids health because Ive been there.
Medical technology can go through the roof but the human body can only stand so much. When you destroy your body you have to live with it. Some peoples bodies just dont hold up to the game of football and it seems like his is one.
If you want to get iinto the reason Im saying take the medical. If seen so many kids go play football and thats all thats in their heads. If they get injured and cant play anymore they are devistated and many drop out of school. So not only are they hurting from now on but the dont get the education they could have. After everything that this kid has been through I dont want to see him become a statistic. He deserves to get a good education and a shot at a great life.
You are making a whole lot of huge assumptions based on reading a message board. You obviously don't know this kid, his doctors, or anything about what his medical prognosis is. And you are pleading with anyone who knows him to tell him to give up his dream and give him life altering advice. It would be one thing if you just stated an opinion that you didn't think it was a good idea. But you actually told anybody who knows the kid to tell him yer advice and convince him to give up. So yeah, get off yer damn soap box. Either the kid will succeed or fail, but it is really none of yer business.
