'18 DT TN D'Andre Litaker

Dang, y’all act like Jason murdered somebody or something. Of all the stupid a-hole things that get said on here y’all wanna jump on him for doing what in his mind is looking out for the kid? Right or wrong there wasn’t any malice in his post.

I don't have a problem with his opinion. Just him trying to get people to force it on a kid who all he knows about is what he's read on a message board. His opinion is very reasonable. His first post was "if anybody knows him tell him to take the medical...and so on.

It’s his opinion on a message board. I doubt it will have any affect on De’Andre’s future.

If anyone knows him tell him to take the medical. I’m still in my 40’s and about to have knee replacement from playing on a bum knee in college.

Young man, get your education paid for and protect your health. Two ACLs already. He’s never going to hold up to the college game.

I know it’s hard to step away at that age but I wish everyday I wold have.

That’s the only thing on Volnation that really pisses me off. When people get on here and say this kid or that is garbage and shouldn’t be on the field. 90% of you have no idea how much these kids are sacrificing their bodies to be out there. While you guys are enjoying your 40-50-60s most of these kids will be dealing with arthritis and replacement surgeries.

Hell im on medication for a form of PTSD from football. The Dr says I had so many concussions it’s a form of PTSD.

I loved the game and I loved my time on the field but sometimes you’ve got to know when to step away and protect your health.

I don’t know man, the flip side is true too. There are guys that would gladly sacrifice issues later in life for the opportunity to play at a higher level when younger. It’s a personal decision, and one that is easier to do different after the fact when you have already done it.

I get what you’re saying, but I don’t blame this kid one bit. There is a tiny fraction of people that are good enough to get education paid for to play football. He is one of them and wants to do it.

Nothing at all strenuous, and hes been cleared to do work outs. We'd never put him in any further risk to himself or his future.

My man DeCon🤟🏽 I’ve been lurking waiting for you to pop up I was wanting to ask you what you thought about next years class and the top in state talent we have and how good does tennessee look with some of the top 10 players in state

At this point its very early but everyone i know is very intrigued by CJP and staff esp. on defense. They won't have any issues recruiting the studs on defense because the entire defensive staff are studs. On offense OL will get studs, Rb will get studs the rest is to be seen as far as what Qbs are attracted to Helton and what Wr or TEs want to play for Nied or CDJ who we like and know from Memphis. I think CJP will do so well and has such an extensive background that hes been enough places to know what it takes to get "IT" done and sign top classes whether instate or not.

For the guy who was calling me out about looking out for this kid the other day. Just had another visit with my ortho. There is supposed to be a gap in this knee X-ray. I’m in my 40s and about to have replacement. That’s why I want this kid to take the medical.

Ouch. That’s bad. Surprised you don’t have more degenerative changes associated with the joint.

Well, Litaker spent each of the past 2 seasons recovering from a torn ACL. I think he only managed to play in a couple of games, so yeah, Garland would have been more productive by default.

Injuries are part of the equation. How productive was Chance Hall last year?

I’m that guy, and I still think your post was beyond asinine. You can’t take your decades old medical diagnosis and attach it to a 17 year old kid.

I was 16 when I tore mine (28 now). My X-ray is remarkably similar to the one posted. Had an NFL ortho too. the tear itself isn't the issue, its what other damage happens around/with it. they can't fix cartilage, they just clean up the damage.

They can transplant meniscus from a donor and it is usually successful if the recipient is diligent with therapy. It's usually suggested for athletes or other folks under 40 or so that are active at sports. I was offered it when I had my ACL reconstruction 20 years ago because my meniscus was shredded. But I passed as I was nearing 40 and a desk jockey who had slowed down to light jogging, weekend golf, etc. The recovery period is extended quite awhile usually, like 4-6 months. They usually want to wait until they know the ACL has healed well and that you are willing to work at it. Dr. Mathien at KOC did my ACL and he does many of the knees on UT athletes.

Very good read

Litaker had sustained his second torn ACL in as many seasons. He’d never play high school football again. He might never dominate a game or be a leader on the football field again. The hard work to become a 4-star defensive tackle and one of the best prospects from the Volunteer State — gone. Just like that.

It’s truly amazing his mind didn’t go to any of that, though. Once he knew it was a torn ACL, his mind went straight to his future of playing in Neyland Stadium on Saturdays in the fall. Which was kind of a funny thought. He had come around to the idea of playing in Tennessee and committed in June 2017. He had grown attached to the Big Orange, but it wasn’t always that way.

“I’m an in-state kid,” Litaker said. “At first, I didn’t even want to live in Tennessee. I hated it so bad, but ever since my mom passed and I got left with my sisters, I didn’t want to live so far to where they couldn’t get to me. For them and for my family, I wanted to stay close. That’s really it.”

Good read. Hate it for D'Andre, wish him a full and speedy recovery. Jones is a sleaze ball why not be honest with the kid just tell him the truth. Hope he can still find his way to Rocky Top some day.
