I can understand them not playing fast enough to an extent. But after 4 years of coaching a position at one school I expect much more out of that position as a whole. Just like the former secondary coach fell off with times(he wasn't always a bad coach) I can see some things I don't like at LB. DKjr for example looked no different just from a physicality standpoint from year 1 to year 2. He was seasoned and is a talented athlete. I expected a lot from him in year 2. He was hurt so I will give him a pass for lost of this past year.
We will see what the LB coach gets done this Fall. Hopefully his guys prove me wrong. If not go after the LB coach at Wisconsin right now. Lol
Breaker tell me what a guy can do more when all his starters get injured and he plays a walk on and 2 back ups. This problem has a multifaceted layer of issues.
1. The coach has recruited elite talent and been tops in the country every where he's been. Then comes here still rated high and brings in guys who are in a bad s/c program and stay hurt
2. Elite talent wants to win and play right away. UT has had a bad streak since Kiff 1 yr tenure. So those same elite guus who went to Auburn and won a NC and were consisently top 10 in the country won't even really entertain a UT offer for real. On top of that they played off 2 top LBs from instate
3. Again S/C plus lack of speed training our guys miss plays and lok like matadors a lot and their bodies are under developed.
4. Philosophies have chg under the new DC and LBs might not be cross compatible in Shoop system that were recruited to play under CJJ. The tenured time of a coach means nothing when concepts and on filed responsibilities change.
