Well we certainly cant and wont land them all. Win some, lose some. Thats recruiting. This class will still close strong and we should all be very happy with what Pruitt and co are doing right now.
Remember, this staff hasnt been in place very long, and with the new early signing day, over 2/3 of the kids have already signed. Much smaller pond to fish in to finish the class. 19 and 20 classes are where well see how good these guys can really recruit.
Two-star senior defensive tackle Jordan Miller of Sandalwood High School in Jacksonville, Fla., a Georgia Southern commitment, posted on his Twitter account that he received a scholarship offer and an in-home visit Wednesday from new Tennessee coach Jeremy Pruitt's staff.
The 6-foot-4, 308-pound Miller has been committed to Georgia Southern for more than a month but picked up offers from Virginia on Jan. 16 and Louisiana-Lafayette on Tuesday in addition to landing an offer from the Vols.
Miller posted a picture Wednesday night on his Twitter account that showed him posing alongside Pruitt, Tennessee defensive line coach Tracy Rocker and defensive coordinator Kevin Sherrer.
"Great in Home Visit from THE UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE @JeremyPruittTN @Rocker2Tracy @UTCoachSherrer #GoVols," Miller tweeted.
I want to be. There are just a bunch of conflicting reports about the top guys. Simmons thinks we land Copeland and Walker, VQ guys throw water on that fire. Moore isnt going to visit. Hubbs doesnt think Miller flips. Bama 247 thinks Smith is a lock to them. Most people dont think Griffin is leaving California.
I hope theyre all wrong and we get them all!
-SimontonJust a quick update, but I'm set to chat with the Sandalwood High (Fla.) DT later today but he's another name who should definitely be added to the DT board. Vols are set to host at least 3 options this weekend (Miller, Silvera and Otitio) and they're pushing for a visit from Miller next weekend.
Miller has seen his recruitment spike in the last 2 weeks, picking up offers from Virginia, FAU, Maryland, South Carolina and Tennessee. Pruitt, Sherrer and Rocker went in-home with Miller on Wednesday.
Originally, he was set to go to Maryland next weekend, but the UT and SC offers have thrown a wrench there. Hope to know more later today/night.
VQMiller openly admits he doesnt know much about Tennessee or its new staff, including Rocker. He did hit it off with the former All-American defensive tackle, saying, He seemed like a good guy. He definitely knows what hes talking about.
After taking an official visit to FAU last weekend, Miller will trip to Virginia on Friday. Tennessee is in the mix with South Carolina and Maryland for his final visit before NSD with the Vols holding the early edge.
Tennessee was the first one to make a move visiting me, so Im really leaning towards visiting them next weekend, he said.
