'18 FL DT Jordan Miller

He isnt a 4* recruit. I mean he was committed to Georgia Southern. He is barely a 2*.

He’s every bit of a 4 Star DT. At 6’4, 305 pounds, he can flat explode off the ball and is strong as a bull. And he is mobile and can really scrape down the los. I’d take him in a heartbeat and be happy about it

If Pruitt wants him than thats fine by me. But according to the recruiting services, he isnt a 4* currently. Regardless of your opinion.

The recruiting rankings have gotten so bad, and are so shamefully biased, especially rivals. that I honestly don’t even look that much now. Young especially did it for me. Then tonight, I was expecting a tug boat or Tierra smalls. Then I see. 6’4, 308 kid that has a great first couple of steps, is as strong as a bull, and is athletic and mobile. Looks like a bigger shy Tuttle. Maybe not quite as athletic but bigger and a better fit for a 3-4. Muschamp is as crazy as a moon bat, but he knows defense. And the fact that he saw him and now wants him says a lot.

'Just a quick update, but I'm set to chat with the Sandalwood High (Fla.) DT later today but he's another name who should definitely be added to the DT board. Vols are set to host at least 3 options this weekend (Miller, Silvera and Otitio) and they're pushing for a visit from Miller next weekend.

Miller has seen his recruitment spike in the last 2 weeks, picking up offers from Virginia, FAU, Maryland, South Carolina and Tennessee. Pruitt, Sherrer and Rocker went in-home with Miller on Wednesday.

Originally, he was set to go to Maryland next weekend, but the UT and SC offers have thrown a wrench there. Hope to know more later today/night.'

How do these guys just appear outta nowhere and not on the radar to being on everybody's wish list?

POOF!! Look there's a 4 star talent just standing there!!

Young kids. A single year can make quite the difference. SR year probably packed on loads of strength, grew into his size, and showed out. Once the film and stats get out there they blow up late. Seems to be the case here, and with Young.

Jordan Miller, Jordan Young, Michael Jordan, all late bloomers.

Great point. I also think the early signing period removed some kids from the picture which then allowed other kids to be uncovered.

That's a good point. 2/3's of the recruits in the nation don't need to be recruited any more so there's more time to go find some under the radar guys that normally don't get found. Which I think is a good side effect of the esd for the programs and especially the kids.

Kid plays pretty low and with good leverage for his size as well. I love the explosion off the ball. He moves the pile backwards and gets good penetration quickly

only pay attention to the good news, ignore the rest.

walker and griffin. feel pretty good there, not "100", as they say....but good.

less confident on miller and copeland, but those aren't over either.

2 weeks. we'll find out.

I think Walker is 50/50, Griffin is 75/25 us and we don't get Copeland, Imo. Miller is cloudy to me, I don't know what to think about him.

And yes we got lucky with young, but stars do mean something. They are not the end-all-be-all. However, they are a great indicator of how high a players ceiling is. IMO, the 247 Composite is the best indication of how good a player is because 4 different groups of people have scouted a player and made their own assessments, which means there is substance.

The poor kids playing opposite him had no chance. Maybe he's just bigger and stronger. One of them tackled Miller from behind. He looks slow but chases backs down from behind. Got a fast, strong bull rush. How good is he? I don't know, but Mark Richt offered Miller. And so did Joey Freshwater.

He’s definitely strong and violent with his hands. Pushes everything back. At 6’4, 310, definitely more of the size we need in a 3-4

Come on why? Watch his hudl film. 6’’4, 305, and explosive off the ball with powerful hands. Really punches well and very mobile. I remember 2 stars like tugboat Carson, etc. This isn’t then.
Where did you start scouting and what do you look for in linemen, LB's, CB's etc...

In DL I look for size, mobility, body shape, strength, explosion, leverage, use of hands, and a motor as is the case with all to me.

Gottcha, I coach the Secondary at a High school and am always willing to learn from "new eyes" so to speak... How did you get started scouting and how did you learn?

Coaching, film break down, watching football my whole life, camps, combines, and the most important thing for coaches to to be around great coaches, and no matter how high the ladder you climb, always realize that you could learn something else that could help you.
