Lol, if you are basing player evaluation on what journalists think then you need to find a new way to follow recruiting. You are doing it wrong.

Isn't that what basically everybody does? We look at his ranking and see what Volquest says about him. I don't know anything

Offers matter a great deal too. Caleb Johnson has a very good offer list. That matters more than what Jesse Simonton thinks, IMO.

True, but also with offers, depends on if it's commitable too. I mean, UGA offered him but they weren't taking him because they were going to get Ojulari

True but those offers were commitable at one point. Eventually in the recruiting calendar most offers are no longer commitable as teams fill up.

How does any recruiting service know for sure if an offer is 'committable' though? Isn't that usually just a guess?

Off topic but the term 'uncommittable offer' has always bothered me. By definition, an offer is something which has been presented either for acceptance or rejection.

But I don't believe every kid we offer could commit on the spot, and if they could, I don't think their spot would be entirely secure if a better player wanted in.

Right. There is no question that is how it works. I just don't know how any recruiting service knows who we would accept a commitment from and who we wouldn't.

...and the term "uncommittable offer" is an oxymoron but I'm not sure what else you would call it either.
